I hope everyone's doing well. Tomorrow morning I go with the family to the annual Fair a few towns over. It'll probably be the last time we do anything as a family, with exception of holidays. My oldest bro has completely moved into his house now, and my room renovations officially start next week.

I had hoped that work would've called me in...the problem I have at the Fair is the false sense of hope that one of us would actually win big at the race tracks. It's a waste of $60 every year just on gambling alone. My luck is so horrid. Sometimes, I feel that they rig the races. I remember last year, the sure-shot in every race pulled back to let everyone else pass him. It's a cheap way for the Fair to earn money, by making the sure-shot that everyone bet on loses. That is the major reason why I hate the races.

Speaking of bad luck, I'm frantically scrambling to purchase all the materials I need for my bedroom. With the way gas prices are soaring, it won't be long before those prices fall to consumer products. The truckers who deliver the goods have to get paid too, so the higher the cost of gas, the more companies pay the truckers, and the cost of products are passed down to the consumer. The only thing that doesn't go up are our wages.

Hiya all, just spent the weekend in Perth......had a couple of nice meals with both sets of parents, did a bit of CD shopping, and drank a bit of alcohol.....all in all, a nice weekend!!

I've enjoyed the day in the sun. It was perfect, even the random play on my mp3 player seemed to have adjusted itself to the warm weather, and picked a whole sequence of slow and long songs. Weird, but very nice!

Tonight we're off to yet another Mostly Autumn concert; more slow and long songs!

I didn't go too mad this time actually - I only bought 4, which were Soul Sirkus, 'Octane' by Spock's Beard, the remastered copy of Yes '90125', cos my copy is one of the quietest cd's in my collection, and (gulp) Foo Fighters 'One by One'!!

No they're not....but I really don't think it would be good for football if a team using a 'super flood' won the flag? At one stage in that game not one Swans player was forward of the centre, even Barry Hall was around centre half back!! Not good.

I've returned from the Fair. I cut my losses and I'm moving on. Work did try to call me in on my day off, but I wasn't able to return the call on time. Both for a shift today, and for a shift swap for tomorrow. If only we had delayed at home a bit longer. Oh well. The time off was much needed.

You are probably right...not a big gayfl fan...just that the Raiders ended up managing to come 2nd last in the NRL where even 2 or 3 weeks ago they gould have easily made the 8...i just hope the Saints and Geelong don't make the final...keep the tropht out of Vic for another year and i'll be happy.

No.....it plays, but it is really quiet. When you have three discs in on shuffle, invariably the others blow your head off and you can barely hear '90125'.......I know what you're thinking, but it was only 10 bucks!!!!

Oh ok! I couldn't figure out why it would be that hard to turn up the volume, if it is just quiet... Hadn't thought of the shuffle play... Even worse, I have that same problem with some of the older discs I play in shuffle play...

Ah, I see where you were going - yes, quiet in relation to other discs......the newer ones have so much more gain on them!!

As it was only 10 bucks, I didn't see the harm. I plan on replacing my older copy of 'Seventh Son' soon too.....

I must admit that 10 bucks isn't a bad deal at all. You're not afraid though you're going to end up with your entire collection in duplicate? That Maiden remaster is likely to make other CDs sound pale in its turn...

There are only a few that are what I would call intolerably quiet.....'Powerslave' would be another.....but there would be maybe 10-12 more I would like to replace, and I will do it in no rush and when I can get a good price.
It just shits me when some Cd's are so much louder than others!

Yeah, I can understand that! Some CDs make no sense in shuffle play because of that... Rainbow's On Stage is even too quiet to listen by itself when there is noise around (parts of it anyway), but I'm not sure if there is something they can do about that without altering the essence of Blackmore's dynamic style of playing. I read something about a new/remixed Rainbow live CD they intend to release... I'm very curious how it works out!

I'm almost done emptying my room. All that remains are the bed, my tv, my personal refrigerator, and the parts for the loft. Those are moved out on the day we start renovating. I will post some pictures when I'm finished.

I could just make it easy and say, "Gimme a bottle of anything, and a glazed donut - to go!"

Jonny how long did it take for you to clean out your room?

The cleaning was not easy. I spanned it over several months, because we spent the whole summer helping my older bro with his house.

It took a couple days to remove the stuff that is on the axe-ing block. Basically stuff that I may just throw out. All that stuff is on the porch.

It took a week to sort the remaining junk in boxes. Of importance were my video game and cd collections. Those were stored upstairs in the spare room I will be sleeping in during the renovations.

It took another week to box everything in my closet & under my bed. Most of that stuff is on the borderline axe-ing phase. Some will get thrown out. Some will be stored semi-permanently, some will be saved.

It took this week to move everything upstairs, and to move my larger furnature into the living room, despite the folks' protesting against it.

All this could've been done in a shorter span, but between working and my bro's house, the time just hasn't been there.

I gut the walls out starting monday.

Well I´ve tasted Foster´s overhere in an Australian restaurant and I thought it wasn´t bad I think it taste like Amstel (dutch beer)
