So, now there are real indicators of a coming recession....and the markets just tanked again today because of it. The fourth worst point drop in history....the worst since the drop that occurred prior to the Great Recession. If a recession happens, it was hastened by Trump as he encouraged negative influences on the economy.

The corporate tax cut

The corporate tax cut came at a time when the economy was strong. There was no need for any type of stimulus for the economy. The stimulus it did provide was temporary, lasting a year at best. Now the economic benefit of the tax cut is over. In its wake, we have a trillion dollar budget deficit, and another trillion dollars added to the national debt. Since he already used this card, and since the Democrats now control the House, it's doubtful another corporate tax cut will happen to help the economy avoid a recession, or lessen its impact.

Tariffs

What a stupid idea this was from the start. Let's tax the American people, make all kinds of goods more expensive. None of the tarrifs truly benefited anybody. If a recession happens, not only will fewer Americans be buying more expensive imports, but other countries will be buying fewer US exports.

And, let me be clear on what Trump did here. He passed a corporate tax cut, and then RAISED taxes on the American people.

Trade War with China

Every time news comes out about the trade war, the markets take a hit. When no trade war news happens, there is a steady climb. We are in a ridiculous and impossible position right now with China....we have moved from a trade war to a potential currency war. None of this is good for the US and it is espeically not good for an economy likely headed for recession.

Now the Democrats have a field many of the candidates want to dramatically increase spending and add to the deficit, raise taxes, and take the other extreme road that is just as bad as what Trump did. If we are in the middle of a recession during the 2020 election, I hope the Democrats reject the candidates who are not being fiscally responsible and nominate somebody who sees how irresponsible those policies are.

Anyway, immigration was a keystone of his last campaign and instead of getting it under control, it has become worse. NONE of his policies of deterents - including the separating families, sending illegals back with ICE raids, and now making it harder for legal immigrants to gain citizenship, NONE of that has worked. His is a failed policy. This "deal maker" of a President, had deals agreed on and he refused them. He has become the worst President regarding immigration policy EVER.

Things are so good the only news they can manufacture is there is a good chance
of a looming recession. there are people on their hands and knees praying to God
for people to lose their jobs, homes, families, all for the greater good of trying to
deny President Trump a second term. pretty sick. Anyone with half a brain knows economic
growth only last so long. there are 4 cycles to it and they repeat, how long each one last varies
but historically this expansion has been very good. the point has been made that tax cuts and or
tariffs will contribute to the quickening of the recession cycle. this may turn out to be the case
but history will be the judge if the trade agreements ultimately reached were worth the short term pain.
