However, other than a few abusive people on the internet, (which posting any kind of hatred on the internet is pretty much a chickenshit way out) I've had a wonderful life. Sure, I've lost friends because I'm gay, but I've never been beaten up, which is probably because I can fight like a demon, but it's just places like these, where we all pretty much have music in common that I don't expect to have to deal with it. While I don't get the homophobia stuff, I do know that a member of our favorite band is continually, and insistently regarded as gay. The tone and content behind that word, and the way it is used, is cast as a negative thing. If you think differently, or that it's just someone joking around, then you are pretty naive. No, I brought it up directly a long time ago but then again was labeled by numerous accusations and the objection was buried after subsequent personal attacks instead of any real debate of the issue. Thats the thing....most of the time when I have been critical it's been on principal or in defending against bad treatment of someone or in speaking in my own defense. The initial principle always gets lost in the piling on to take focus away from it and turns into a name calling free for all. If some have no defense and can't argue any justification for their actions then they change the subject by name calling and pin labels on the one who disagrees with them and the spin is on. Just as Frank and Dean have done in this thread....instead of sticking to the point of discussion they try to make it personal about me instead and take it off topic into a shouting match....but I'm going to step out now so that the issue of discussion can't be buried and the focus can't continue to be made about me.....then you and all others can discuss the actual topic because I think it's an important one very worthy of discussion.

Still, after several comments back & forth I could tell that Bobby’s tone was starting to change & that he was getting frustrated with Matt’s point of view. Frank then joined the group & he agreed with Matt’s assessment. That seemed to turn things up a notch. I thought that Bobby felt out numbered. [You’ll just have to read the thread yourself to see what I mean b/c I’m not going to copy & paste it all over here.] In any case, since I could see that Bobby was getting frustrated I sent a message to him as a way of letting him know that even though I did not agree with everything he was saying, I understood where he was coming from. I tried to remind him that sometimes you just gotta agree to disagree & that it wasn’t worth the fight that I could sense was where that was heading. If I had stopped right there, everything would have been fine & none of this would have happened.

Unfortunately, I didn’t stop right there. I let Bobby know that maybe he should simply let it go b/c when all is said & done, he’s still out numbered. I told Bobby that if the thread took a turn for the worse, it isn’t likely that Andrew would have his back b/c I believed he was homophobic & that I had heard so from start. I backed up my claim with a couple of recent examples that I cannot explain specifically b/c hindsight being 20-20, I realize now that I was wrong. In any case, Bobby went to Andrew & he told him what I’d done. That is what angered Andrew & that's what caused him to start this thread. Andrew then immediately contacted me & wanted to know what I had said. I didn’t deny it. I sent Andrew a copy of exactly what I had sent to Bobby & ---- NO --- it wasn’t good. I don’t suppose I have to explain that Andrew wasn’t happy, but I won’t give you guys the “word-for-word” he gave to me. You’ll just have to use your imaginations. We talked for an hour & a half & nineteen PM’s later I think we came to an understanding.

( not whining stating a fact)....I also have been piled on many times and when I respond in defense then the propaganda is spread that I'm out to just fight, I enjoy it, I'm whining, I'm making it all about me..etc, etc, etc. Any spin that can be made and told about me has been. Some of the perception comes from the gossip mill...I've been told by a few people that they have "heard all about me"....when in fact the people spreading lies about me don't know me at all. Like you, Andrew, I don't appreciate being talked about and lied about.

You know what SJ just said is another lie...I don't PM you incessently with complaints and in fact over the years have complained only a very few times to you in PM over all of these attacks.

If I complain to you like you suggest, I'm labeled...if I fight back, I'm labeled ...if I ignore I'm still labeled something else. Like I listed I've been called many names in this thread but nothing is said to those doing it. If I fight back and the thread becomes a war zone then I would be the cause of it? When are those that constantly try to bait me into a fight going to be held accountable for their actions? When are people going to stop denying their culpability? If I started something with them in the thread they would have an excuse but I haven't so they don't have an excuse for doing it.
