You know, I really feel for that little fella. He's only six. He must have been scared to death he was going to get in big trouble for letting the balloon go and then to hear all the people at his house. When I was in first grade, his age, the teacher asked for permission slips that were supposed to be signed, which I forgot to do, and I was petrified. I thought I was in trouble and started sobbing hysterically. She asked me what was wrong, and I was afraid to admit I hadn't gotten it signed and told her I needed to give these to my brother and opened my hand and had these little rocks, looked like fool's gold, in my hand. I was crying so hard and couldn't stop that she finally walked me down to his class. He was in the sixth grade, much older. When they brought him outside and I tried to hand him the rocks, while crying, he was clueless but finally took them to calm me down. Such a silly lie, but in my little mind I couldn't tell the truth.

Think how his parents must feel, to think for a while there was a good possibility their little boy was dead and then to find out he was alive and safe. I can't imagine going from such a low to such a high.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't spank him if it were me. The fear he must have felt knowing the chaos he had created would have been punishment enough for me. That, & a really good talking to.

at first i thought this was way too elaborate to be a hoax. too difficult to count on the kids to keep the story straight- especially a six year old, but now after reading what you wrote jana, i am not so sure. if it was a hoax those parents need to be punished, shame on them!

I think this may be a hoax . This is not over as far as the law. Something is very strange. This could be trying to turn your 15 min into a TV show . I don't think they are getting the attention they wanted. Stay tuned.

From what little I understand about this story, the little kid got yelled at by his father so he went and hid up in the garage attic. They launch the balloon and then can't find the kid and figure that he's inside of it cause one of the brothers said that they saw him in it before it was launched. Funny shit, people were freaking out over it. God at least it gave the news something to talk about around my area besides the fucking 20th anniversary of the Loma fucking Prieta earth quake of Goddamn 1989.

In this balloon issue though, I don't think the parents are dealing with a full deck. The father chases tornados with his children in the back of the SUV and the mother (Japanese) is featured in TV's Wife Swap. Now they are putting shit up in the sky looking for aliens and shit. What if that fucking thing was sucked into a passenger jet engine which caused it to crash? These two are dingbats, as Archie would say.

I'm happy that the little kid was unharmed and never in any danger though. That's the best part of the entire saga.

Great point. The UFO thing these morons had going on today was a small little thing. Any well seasoned individual with an understanding of physics and science would have realized there is no way a balloon of that size could lift up and carry away a little 50 pound kid. But it did get a lot of people excited today, plus like I said, it was soooo nice that the bay area news media had something other to talk about then that fucking earthquake 20 years ago!

How many millions of dollars did this farce cost? I heard they shut down the airport for fear that this would get hit or caught in a plane. They also tore up that farmer's field that the balloon landed in with all of the people trampling it to get to the "endangered boy". Geez. All to get some press? :evil:

The family was on GMA this morning, and news reports said the little boy threw up twice. And once Diane Sawyer had to tell them to go after him, and the second time they sat there and gave him Tupperware to throw up in while sitting there. :shock:
