I would rule out Detroit and New Orleans, because I do not want to get murdered or see anyone else get murdered. Toronto I would need a passport, so no good. Nice city though and potential favorite if not for the passport. Weak U.S. dollar also hurts this choice. The Canadian dollar is basically $1 for $1 with U.S. If it were .75 to $1 ratio, this would be the choice, but not now. South Bend was fun but I don't know if I would want to do it again, plus it is not a major city like the others on the list and this is a "big city" event. Vegas would be too cliche plus it is expensive as hell ($11 for a bottle of water...go fuck yourself). Although this would be a good draw both internationally and domestic for MR, so it may be worth it. That leaves the big 3, which sucks. Chicago's negatives would be too close to South Bend (for the we want something new crowd) and is probably a little weaker/less sexy than the other two remaining cities (although it is better than LA). The positive would be Andrew would probably have a lot of contacts in the area from his first show which could make things smoother. New York would be a draw and a good choice but L.A. would probably make the most financial sense since most of the artist reside out there (saving on travel and hotel expenses for Andrew). Plus, it is a tourist destination (for some reason). Also, it gives you the feel of a foreign country (yet still in the U.S.). Probably the best bet and most sense and gives me a legit excuse not to go...fuck that city and the whole state for that matter.

TIMRFC's rankings:
1. L.A.
2. N.Y.
3. Chicago
4. Vegas
5. Toronto (would be #1 if passport not needed and there was a strong U.S. dollar. Blame the neocons for both.)
6. South Bend
7. New Orleans
8. Detroit.

Nice to see a post where you make a lot of sense :D

Chicago is almost on par for musicians over LA....as it NYC, so it's an even call there. But I know Chicago and I know LA very well. I don't think I'd want to put on a show in LA.

All of my posts make sense (excluding most of my responses to SteveW). L.A. eliminated in the first round = stunning upset. Your comments do not sound good for the anti-Chicago contingent.

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I still shake my head when people think that because chicago is sorta in the middle of the country, that it's convenient for everyone. The fact of the matter is that with the exception of chicago residents, it was convenient for no one.

Alot of this should be centered around what artists can show up.....ease of transportation, accomodations, venue...etc...

I still think suberbs of NY is a PRIME location...as is the LA area. they are transportation hubs, even more so than Chcago is. You can get a plane to NYC alot cheaper, at all times of the year/day to NYC than you can to Chicago...that's a fact. Consider that in the calculations of where to fucking hold this fucking thing, fuckers! ;)

There had been some comments thrown around during the last MR.com fest....that had it been held in NYC or LA, it would have been more successful. I'm inclined to concur with such sentiment...

Just sayin.

LOL.....last time, the excuse wasn't location....it was school, fucker!

I don't have such an excuse this time around, so dont worry...I'll be there to make all of you other fucks either very miserable or very drunk.

I just thought South Bend was a fucking awful location regardless....if you were going to do an event in a suburb of a major city, a 1 hour train ride out....NYC or LA was a far better choice, IMHO.
