Maybe Neal, if he feels it really needs to be addressed in light of all the other lip synching done by some great bands in the 70s, should tell the truth (whatever that might be since I'm not positive what happened)... Their singer was sick, they got in a terrible jam, they enhanced Augeri's vocals, and then they hired JSS to help them finish the tour. Maybe addressing it head on would allow them to put it behind them once and for all.

I'd venture a guess based on many boots I've heard and personnel changes that Augeri live vocals weren't piped out to the crowd all the time in 05 and 06.

The extent can NEVER be really ascertained And I really don;t care that he got help at times on those tours. At times it wasn;t even tapes, someone just turned the mic off (as in end of Stone In Love Greek 05).
