So he asked for the autograph and picture and Jimi was so nice... he told Rip absolutely, no problem, even though he was clearly on his way somewhere. So in classic Rip fashion, he presents not just the picture he bought, but also pulls out two CD covers, and gets Jimi to sign everything, and then take a pic.

Actually, it was only 1 solo CD cover, and I'd just bought it right before he left. But I promise you if I'd had my Rocky CDs I would have given him a whole stack of stuff! (not really.... but maybe!)

Then Jimi, again, even though he's on his way someplace, even takes another minute and poses with me, even though I didn't even ask for a pic. Now that's class. Totally nice guy.

If I recall correctly, I think Jimi said he would be coming back later to watch his friend Kip (Winger) play. But I never saw him again, so glad we caught him. Hey, you forgot what I told you on the way in -- that if I got any worse, pretty soon I'd be kicking in the crapper stalls on people for autographs, LOL.

I still can't believe I made that mistake. That's like a 'rookie' autograph error, and I've been collecting for over a decade!

He certainly reminded me of Rod! Just taller and with short hair! So someone please ID this guy.

FOUND HIM!!! His name is Thom Griffin, and no doubt anyone mistook him for Rod! Aside from the height and the hair, they could be brothers in this pic, LOL! Who knows, maybe he gets mistaken for him a lot and signs Winger CDs for a hoot.

I chatted with Toby Hitchcock at the hotel, Keith Semple and Jow Vana up in the VIP room and a few other guys as well. They were all so very, very excited to be there and it was amazing to watch them watch the other bands. Just an incredible experience that you can only get at one event ... Melodicrock Fest. In time, this thing will grow legs and become much bigger.

Precisely the feedback I was hoping for and what I asked the bands to do - casual, family type weekend. Hopefully the good word of the event can be spread around

That was really the coolest thing too! That they were comfortable enough to just walk around and mingle and hang out in the hotel lobby. I mean they were having fun with each other too. Taking pictures with each other. It was fun just to watch them all have fun and be that relaxed. I don't think any of us bothered them too much either. And if they were asked for pics or autographs, it wasn't a problem. I think there was respect going both ways and it was just REALLY cool!

If those musicians had a problem, Im sure they would not have hung out the way they did. I didn't get one pic or autograph all weekend myself I was always sleeping when the real mingling was going on
