Very sad news indeed.
He was one of THE beat players out there. He has it all but unfortunately the injuries took a toll on him and after 25 surgeries , I don't blame him that he gave it one final try before he announced his retirement...
Along with Gretzky & Lemieux , he's on my top three best hockey players of all time.

Except Favre does it for attention, but Forsberg wants to play bad, he loves hockey more than anything else, yet he just cant cause damn injuires are too painful for him to handle.

Bruins land Tomas Kaberle from Maple Leafs, and they send Blake Wheeler and Marc Stewart to the Thrashers for Rich Peverly and Boris Valabik...Stewart's been hurt, and Wheeler is a walking turnover/whiff master...good riddance.

Kaberle is gonna begood for us....

'Guess the -6 perfect weather they were forecasting didn't pan out  .

I like Craig Conroy and all (and I know he's one of your favs Deb) - but why does he get to play in the alumni game? Ahh - I have such fond memories of that win in '89 - driving (drunk - stupid) down Macleod Trail in my convertible with the roof down, honking my horn, accompanied by my then brand new boyfriend (now my husband  ).

PS - I'm old - one of my employees (at the time) briefly dated Joe Nieuwendyk in '89. Saw him on TV the other day and it struck me (because of how he looked) how very long ago that was :)

What a fucking fraud, coming from a guy who employs Matt Cooke.

Dude, did you see Don Cherry on coaches corner on this? Ripped Lemieux a new one. Showed clips of Cooks dirty hits and one from Malkin. After every clip asked, "did Lemieux say anything about this? No!"
Called Mario a hypocrite. I love Cherry, my second favorite Canadian next to Yzerman.

Good for Grapes for ripping this fucking tool. Cherry has always been one of the most knowledgeable hockey guys on the planet and I'm glad he called out that fraud Lemieux. Hypocrite is an understatement. Dude was always a big pussy when he played and at 6'4" and about 235lbs, wouldn't dare take or give a hit. Any guy who employs Matt Cooke really needs to keep their pie hole sewn shut about the integrity of the game. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a dirtier player in any sport than that douchebag Cooke. I've read that many of his teammates on the Penguins can't stand this guy because his complete disregard for playing within the rules of the game.

Absolutely! Hoping for a win from my beloved Flames, but I think Kipper's going to have a tougher time in the cold than young Price will. Just hope no-one gets hurt - these outdoor games are exciting and all, but when the teams are fighting for their playoff lives, not so sure about the timing of this one.

Nope, I didn't end up going. But some friends and family did, and said it was alot of fun, even though we didn't win. Just watching the Heritage game now, love to see all that sea of red, even in winter wear! I hope a couple friends that went aren't on that shady side of the stadium, damn that's gotta be cold. It's -10 Celcius here right now, but at least the sun is shining.

The Blackhawks needed a shootout to beat the Malkin and Crosby-less Pens. Probably going to be a non-playoff year if they don't start playing better really soon.

LOL and you were worried about Kipper? Hehe. Did you see Don Cherry surrounded by all those little Timbit hockey tykes.......soooo cute they are as wide as they are tall in all that hockey gear. And Cherry's suit, wow, loud or what?!  We're such a hockey town, gotta give the 42,000 fans credit for sitting in the stands for hours in that -20C wind chill. LOL they panned on one guy trying to drink a beer, so damn cold that his can of Canadian was frozen. :o

Sooo glad I was wrong – Kipper and the rest of the team are on fire lately! As far as the cold – I experienced many November Stampeder games at McMahon in colder weather than that, but I don’t think I could do it now I’m older and wiser. And back then they sold the beer in plastic cups – it never froze – or, we were able to smuggle in something stronger with ease  . Great game! (and that Paul Brandt is such a cutie  )
