Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) has been cast as Orm in the James Wan Aquaman movie. He joins Jason Mamoa as Aquaman; Amber Heard as his wife Mera and William DaFoe as Vulko..

Since Affleck bailed on directing Batman, it seems like the studio is trying to be economical with their choices. Some of the names floated, like Fede Alvarez, are terrible. Matt Reeves would be fine.

I'm VERY worried about Ben. This dude is in a very dark state of mind lately, especially now that Jen Garner has officially filed divorce papers. Affleck just seems completely out of it right now so I wouldn't be surprised to see that the Batman role is just way too much for him to handle at this point. I hope I'm wrong and he finds the balance again. His career resurgence has been both a blessing and a complete hell hole for him.

As for Matt Reeves, the negotiations broke down for The Batman, but reports indicate he's using leverage to come back into the mix at a later time. Whatever it is, the studio is hell bent on not budging from the release date they have in mind and probably want to go into production by summer. The DC branch's over at WB appear to be a mess. It's clear they don't have the smooth rolling pin in their divisions that Marvel Studio has luxury of.

Matt's not going to be cheap, and they know it. His Apes movie was a hit, and it looks like the next one will follow suit. He's a great director, IMO, and the right guy for the job, be it a Batman OR Superman film. If he moved over to Man of Steel 2, that would be just as cool.

I hear that. There's a (not small) group of us who wouldn't mind it one bit if Zack took over. Justice League is still in postproduction, though.

Still can't believe they're in the midst of filming Pacific Rim 2. It was on FX last night, so I paused to watch the key sequence where Gypsy Danger is dropped into the battle after the two beasties take out Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha. Then the EMP blast happens, and it picks up downtown where GD is dragging an entire cargo ship to wield as a bludgeon. Then the Ugly grows wings and drags them up, gets hacked up with the Voltron sword. The color spectrum in the downtown sequence is incredible, too. I hope PacRim2's visuals are equally badass.

Shame Del Toro won't be directing Rim 2. And last I heard, he also dropped out of Justice League Dark too.
I'm going to try to see Great Wall this week or Cure for Wellness. From a visual standpoint, they both look like eye candy.

After Ben dropped out, the first person I thought of was Zack Snyder for Batman. As much as the man takes flack, his visuals and overall substance of his films are ironically best suited for the Batman character. I was shocked to see so many fans in agreement that wouldn't mind to see Zack helm a Batman movie, but after JL he's going to move on to his other projects and rightfully so.

Justice League is still in postproduction, though.
