I liked Diver Down.other than Pretty woman and happy trails, I thought the album rocked.I hated women and children first.the production took a step back from van halen 2 and the songs werent as good. But, thats just my opinion

Van Halen 1 is by far the best Van Halen work (that includes Hagar and Cherone era). I prefer the Hagar era over the Roth era but I still think that VH1 is their best work ever. Probably my second favorite rock album after Appetite For Destruction. I can listen to VH1 over and over again and not get bored with it.

Van Halen managed a decent follow up to VH1, but after that it's all downhill. WACF is the worst album in the Roth era and although Fair Warning is better, it's still quite weak (and overrated too - ask the so called hard core VH fan and they say this album is the greatest, not). Divers Down is a nice distraction but too many cover songs. 1984 sold a gazillion amount but I don't care about the album besides Jump and Panama.

Here's how I rank the Roth era albums:

VH1
VH2
Divers Down
1984
Fair Warning
WACF

i diagree with the last post of where diver down was put before fair warning.
diver down was a good album but fair warning kicked its ass.

Gotta admit Diver Down is the worst DLR-fronted VH album, but like sex, even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. Little Guitars, the Full Bug, Hang 'em High, are all pretty lightly written but still contain that original VH energy. Sort of like the "chocolate" rush of the DLR era, short term, but still a rush. And I gotta agree they had it right with VH1. Nothing beats that, and I don't suspect any future work will even challenge it.

i think eddie has atleast one more album like vh1 or fair warning, i think he will put one out because of the anger he must have with singers, lables, his cancer (he had) and val leaving him.
i think all that may come out on the next album when they have their shit together.
remember fair warning was put out in anger (eddie wanted to leave vh then) and i think we will get a great album from them soon.

ROTH IS THE VOICE OF VAN HALEN

Dave lee roth is the voice of Van Halen end of story anything else is a cover band. The problem is there never was a bad roth era album.

I can't believe that someone hated VH1

bull, right now dlr is in a vh cover band, i love dlr but i would also like him to do his solo shit then all van halen, vh is eddie alex and mike they are the music of that band and that will always be van halen like it or not.
anyone who says dlr or sammy was better for vh is just a fan of that person, i grew up in the dlr era but i also liked sammy in the band to, i'm a van halen fan. i will say i bought vh3 i really did not like gary that much but i bought it because it was van halen.
i will say right now van halen does need either dlr or sammy back to help put them on top again. i know alot of people want roth back but you have to look at the long run it wont last with roth maybe an album or two and that would be it. but if vh wants to go on for a wile it would have to be sammy, but if vh wants to do one last tour and album then they should take roth and end it that way.

Sorry to say Joe318 but Van Halen lost their personality when Roth left plus they had their biggest selling albums with Roth only SAMMY album to come near the sale figures of roth era records is 5150. And to the music side of it Roth helped to pen the CLASSIC Van Halen tunes Mike is not the greatest bass player in the world nor Alex the greatest drummer EDDIE ON THE OTHER HAND IS ONE OF THE BEST GUITAR PLAYERS IN THE WORLD.Van Halen forever.

that may be true rush, but all i'm saying is you have to have and open mind, if one like roth better or sammy fine.
but with roth and sammy they were a huge band both of those singers were great in vh at the time they were there, i wouuld love to see either one come back.
i do not care wich one helped sell more albums, with each singer they did have sold out shows, but with sammy they had 4 number 1 albums and more number 1 songs.
with dave they had 1 number song which was jump and 1 number album which was 1984.
but you have to admitt that would'nt you be happy to see either one back to help vh get to the top again?
it's all about who they will be happier with.

Hi everybody,

I have to say that I'm Sammy fan.
I think that there is not one Van Halen album with DLR on vocals that has no fillers on it. I would say that 2/3 of every DLR album are fillers and the rest is classic stuff (that's OK so).

Take it easy folks ! Sammy is the fun factor

DLR is a joke

dave was great with van halen no question there, but i think his time is done with van halen.
i think sammy may have more to offer van halen now.

Like what??

Cheese ballads? Capri pants? Tequila commercials?

There are no bad Van HALEN albums, but if I had to vote for one, it would be 1984. Because "Jump" and "I'll Wait" are easily the most expendable songs in the band's entire catalog. At least the covers on Diver Down (excepting Big Bad Bill which was interesting on it's own merits) were ROCK songs!

is that you ford? its been awhile, anyway i think if sammy is or does come back they might go towards the humans being way. i'm sure there will be some love songs to but i think this time around it may be more rockin of an album. i dont think they will or would last with dave but who knows.
