Will anybody remember Motley Crue in rock history?

Nobody is going to remember Motley Crue in rock history because they're nothing but second rate Aerosmith/Kiss clones of the lowest common denominator for the MTV generation while they are one of the greatest rock bands of the 80's their impact on rock is minimal unlike the Beatles, the Stones, the Who, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith & Kiss. I expect the Motley Crue reunion tour to be the biggest rock tour of the year but the the most important reunion in rock this year is Cream with Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker playing some dates at the Albert Hall so the Crue reunion isn't that important & their only great classic rock album is Shout At The Devil while their other ones are filler despite being more popular.

Motley will be remembered more for the partying and drugs then the tunes. Loved all the stuff, but thought the album with Corabi had the best tunes and overall heaviness.

Agree that the Corabi-fronted album was their heaviest metal to date. Also think it had Tommy's best, most POUNDING work and overall their second-most consistent effort behind the seminal album that is Feelgood. Disagree with you about the longevity of their music I think it has good staying power and holds up well. 8) Sick Love Song SMOKES, btw. Amazing vox outa Vince Neil on that one.

The Crue will always be remembered...

I'm not the biggest Crue fan ever. In fact, I'm not even a big Crue fan at all. I think, in retrospect that their songs, even most of their best songs, were mediocre, and highly overrated. That being said...

The Crue were the biggest hair band of the 80's, period. Even if their songs don't stand the test of time, they were the most popular band in the most popular genre of music for several years. Every decade has bands that everyone remembers, from Elvis in the 50's to The Beatles in the 60's and Led Zeppelin and Kiss in the 70's. Motley Crue and Def Leppard were those bands from the 80's. Bad songs or not, the Crue will not be forgotten. Anyone who thinks they will understands little about what that band meant to music in the 80's.

Must have been good enough to make you want to write about them.
But I do agree "Shout" is their classic, and the Motley Corabi album was their strongest.
(should have changed the band name on that one it probably would have done better..)
