A Favor To Ask

Postby jrnyman28 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 5:52 am

With all the talk about EVH solos, I would like to hear them all. I do not have all of VH's CDs. In fact, I think I ONLY have Van Hagar on CD. I know I have most of the others on tape, but would really have to dig for them. So this is what I am asking:

Can someone please list all of VH's instrumental works and the CDs they come from? I want to make one CD of all the instrumentals and listen to them all.

Thank you.

Okay. Chronologically, by album:

'Van Halen': "Eruption"
'Van Halen II': "Spanish Fly"
'Women and Children First': "Tora! Tora!"
'Fair Warning': intro to "Mean Street" (not a stand alone solo, but hey 8) )
'Diver Down': "Cathedral", "Little Guitars (Intro)"
'1984': "1984" (keyboards)
'For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge': "316"
'Balance': "Strung Out" (creative piano playing), "Baluchitherium"
'Van Halen III': "Neworld", "Primary"

ENJOY :!: :D

You might also want to go to vhnd.com and download the 2 mixes created by Roland Chayer which feature much solo stuff creatively combined into interesting montages.

Dave, if you have never heard Spanish Fly, prepare to be blown away. It is an acoustic solo and an amazing piece of music.

Thank you VH101.

NiG, I have heard it...a long time ago.

I think this will be a cool little compilation to make.

Are there any other works that could be included from EVH? I wouldn't mind the CD at this length, but if there is anything else (like soundtrack work or guest appearances) that I might be able to add that would really make it full-length! (Providing I can track them down of course)

There's a bunch of stuff out there that's not so easy to track down. :(

I should've mentioned one more album solo track...

'Van Halen Live: Right here, right now.': "316" (a total concert experience solo performance with many solos on one track... 11 and a half minutes of Ed near his best!) :D

Aw, "316" on L:RH,RN is where it's at. all his solos, then some, sandwiched around ends of 316 (electric 316 of course).

NIG, tell me "Primary" isn't cool.

"Respect The Wind" is okay (IMHO). It's kinda repetitive at times. Soundtrack lists Alex & Edward Van Halen as performers. No percussion as far as I can tell. Makes good Halloween music!
