Watching L: RH,RN over the last few days. Yes, I hate that it's compilations of clips in a lot of spots of different shows, which is why I prolly like the cds better. But, viewing it, listening to it and taking in all the FUCK material on the show(s) I realized again, what a masterpiece that album is. The live version of the The Dream Is Over which appears on the video only is stunning.
I just love all the FUCK material they used for that project. Unless I'm wrong, every song from that album appears either on the cds, the video or both....rare for a live document to showcase that much new material but it just goes to show how great those songs went over. The only one that fell kind of flat is Runaround. Best was a tie between The Dream Is Over and Man On A Mission....

I can remember '91-'93 hearing just about every one of the songs off FUCK on the radio all the time except Judgement Day Pleasure Dome, MOAM, and In-N-Out.

FUCK has some solid songs but there's no way it's better than 5150, OU812 or even Balance. "The Dream Is Over" recycles a riff from a VH classic, "Runaround" sounds like an afterthought, "Top Of The World," "Spanked" and "Poundcake" haven't aged too well. The kickass tunes are "Judgement Day," "Pleasuredome" and "Man On A Mission."

I think it's their best record, ANY era.

Another thing that did not work for me on L:RH,RN was Finish What Ya Started. Guitar is completely different from the record and not in a good way and the "c'mon baby" BG vox are bad unlike the OU812 version.

"5150" was my favorite album by anyone for a long time and I do still like it better than the other Sammy-era VH stuff. However, FUCK is better than the others you mentioned, in my opinion. I like a few of the songs on "Balance" but it just never clicked with me, for some reason and I've never thought much of OU812.

I don't know how anyone can say Poundcake hasn't aged well... it's a no frills rock and roll song. And a great one at that.

Poundcake and Top of the World have to be two of my favorite VH songs EVER! Sammy did TOTW in KC last week and it ROCKED!

5150 was just amazing, and soon after eatem and smile came out,, that was cool to, we used to compare them ,, 5150 took it hands down,, i just wish yankee rose would have been a vh song,, carnel knowledge got better with age!!!

Agreed, Lar. I think Carnal HAS stood the test of time very well whereas the other guy up there said sounded dated. Outside Neal Schon, I haven't heard guitars like Eddward's on FUCK since then. it was a quantam leap. So in that sense a lone it can't be dated b/c noone's matched his FUCK sound yet.

I'd take FUCK over 5150 or OU812. OU812 is probably the weakest of the Sammy albums, IMO, and the production on 5150 hasn't aged well. FUCK actually sounded pretty heavy, and had the best batch of songs they'd cooked up in awhile.

Balance is still my fav. VH record of all time though, although I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one.

I like all the 4 records about equally, for different reasons.

5150 hasn't aged very well, but it's still got some of their classic songs.

F.U.C.K is the rawiest, heaviest with some great riffs.. and poundcake is amazing. This album has held up better than 5150 or OU812.

OU812 has a cool mix of sounds on it, and some great songs (Mine all Mine, Cabo, etc). This is easily their most diverse record.

Balance has a lot of great tracks and is consistent. This has a slightly different sound than you'd expect out of VH... and pretty original.
