Is the VH, the band, DEAD?

I used to only visit this site to see what was going on in the VH camp. There is much more life on the Journey board. My question: is VH, the band, DEAD?
:?:

I think Van Halen is dead. At least, in any form we've ever seen it. Eddie said his son is in the band now. He's "open" to working with Roth. He's pissed at Sammy and Mike...although why I can't really figure out. :? (I think it's just the fact that they don't need Eddie does to be successful.)

But...you never know where Eddie is concerned. The mentally ill can do some strange things.

His son is in the band? How old IS he? :?

This whole situation with them is very odd.

I think his son is around 15. Can't find the exact link (too lazy)...but Eddie has said that "there is a new Van Halen coming" and that "anything the band does will involve his son." He's also said that VH will "live on long after he's (Eddie) gone" through his son.

Probably not. The last hiatus was about 5 years long. We're about 2 years into this one.

The question on many fans' minds is, "Can a band without Michael Anthony still be regarded as Van Halen?".

Correct. 3/16/91, to be precise.

Many people would say no, but Ed probably doesn't give a bleep

Maybe the lawyers will state they want Micheal Anthony must be in the line up,as this will be billed as a reunion tour.Plus Anthony is needed if only to carry Roth's weak voice. The fact that Eddie has said he will work with Roth is very odd,so this may be the start of a reunion of some sort, otherwise why say it he knows how it will be taken.Roth is probably doing back flips getting ready ti hit the road. 8)

Say, anyone notice that Andrew has the MR logo in VH colors as of late? AND he's been hinting of a big rumor???What do ya think? DLR back in the fold maybe???

I think it's gonna happen. But with Wolfie replacing MA.

What? WITH Dave?

Without Michael Anthony, that reunion will be less commercially successful than the BOBW tour was.

Yeah, Eddie already said he's open to it. Which means he wants it, IMO.

They'll play up the father-son thing, which will offset the loss of MA to a degree. It could be interesting. But not as good as having MA in the fold, of course.

With Eddie in the shape he's been in?

And Roth being...well, Roth.

I predict a major train wreck.

But it will, once and for all, lay to rest all of the Bullshit about DLR returning to Van Halen. Personally, I think they would have a MUCH better shot at putting out a new album that is good...than to have a tour (only) that's good.

Never thought of that, NIG. You could be onto something...and yeah. it might be a train wreck, but it's one disaster I'd pay to see!
BTW NIG...what happened to your daily CHUCK NORRIS affirmations? Damn, I miss those!

Ran out of really funny ones. There's a ton of them at www.chucknorrisfacts.com.

Couldn't be much worse than going to a GnR show, and having Axl be a no-show. DLR ain't gonna pass up a chance to strut his stuff!

Uh, yep, sorta.

Bassists often get overlooked for their instrument-playing abilities. However, it's a HUGE oversight on the brothers' part regarding Mike's singing ability!

Totally agree! Mikey's voice is part of that signature VH sound, whether it be with Dave or Sam.

I think Van Halen died along with Eddie's last braincells. The thing I wanna know is: Why isn't Alex saying anything. We have heard from Roth,Ma,Eddie and their management, but AVH hasn't said a word about the reunion or anything else for that matter.

He just does whatever Eddie tells him to, I guess. Would explain why he has nothing going on when VH is inactive.

I agree with you Neal. He was the same way back in the 80's with Roth.He wouldn't say anything unless it was started by Roth.

Personally, this whole reunion thing reeks of nostalgia that Eddie swore the band would never be. He reunites with DLR, makes his kid the new bass player and looks to tour without a new album.I guess he's gotta pay for his drinking habits somehow....lol
