Was the news of VH getting back together overshadowed by The Police reformation i wonder.A lot more was said on the news about them than VH. Lets hope Wolfie is out and Micheal Anthony is back in and they do a proper PR on the band and the upcoming tour. :)

If the Police had any thunder, it would have to be stolen.

The Police are a safer band. The media thus will give them more attention.

Everyone in The Police is living a sober, professional life right now from what I have gathered. That makes a huge difference in the way tour promoters invest into marketing and promoting a band's concert tour. The promoters don't like gambling on drunks any more than you or I would.

The Police also effectively ceased to be a band past about 1986 if you count the Amnesty reunions. They went out "on top". Synchronicity was a huge album ... and then they went away. People long for nostalgia of how good the Police were. Will they live up to the hype? Time will tell.

Remember - VH continued to have success with Sammy until the mid-90s after Dave left.

So the Police is a very different thing than VH who never really went away but always had a buzz of drama around it. The Roth/VH thing has always been fodder for people. It's no secret the guys in the Police have had their rows over the years, but nothing even remotely as embarassing or sad IMO as what VH is going through now.
