Cool! You gonna ask him the hard hitting questions, AKay? He was pretty honest in the last interview I read.

Oh, I will definetly bring up the Van Halen thing...all he can say is "no" right? Unfortunately, our station doesn't stream, but I will let you know how it goes!

You should ask him if he knows if Eddie is still sober after rehab. I think that's the 40-million dollar question.

I think he's to far out of the circle at this point to know anything about this. I just want more thoughts on his involvement/disinvolvement with Sammy/VH.

Very cool Ang!

Angie, I hope you can phrase a question to Mike beginning with verbage like, "A great number of Van Halen's biggest fans consider the band incomplete without you..."!

Agreed...he should know that his contributions to the band's sound, especially vocally, are not underappreciated by fans, and that the idea of them touring without him is blasphemy.

Okay, two questions for Mikey:

While he isn't involved in VH '07, I imagine he's still involved (at least partially) in any dealings with the band's back catalog. I'm wondering if there have been or are any plans for some kind of archival box set with outtakes, unreleased live stuff, and other rare stuff, instead of just releasing more fucking compilations. I know there isn't a ton of unreleased songs like with Jovi or Springsteen, but there's a few, plus a couple b-sides like "Crossing Over," and there's the other 'Twister'-era song that led to Sammy leaving the band (I think the music became the basis of 'Once,' but I'd love to hear the original version). As well, there was one unreleased VH3 song, and anything the band was working on for the follow up to VH3 that never was finished.

And on that note, I'm wondering how far the 2nd Cherone album got...did they actually finish songs or did it never get past the preliminary stages? Anyone's opinions on VH3 aside, I think a second Cherone album would've been a vast improvement over the first if it had been completed.

Good luck with your interview. :)

Fuck I'm starting to like this guy - I don't think Bush is Satan though, he just works for him.

I'd like to know if Mike has had a hair weave at some point - on the cover of VH in 78 he looks like he's already losing his hair.....that'd be a really tough question!

Yeeeeeah...I think I'll stick to the important, relevant questions.

I'd like to know if he talks to Dave.

Oh, and ask him off the record what he thinks of MR.com. :P

Ok, he actually called me a day early on Thursday, I've just been really busy. Let me tell you, this was one of the funnest interviews I've ever done. He is SO FREAKIN' COOL! He's like talking to your long lost best friend...so yes, I would LOVE to have a tequila with him!

First of all, he knows all about MR and said he stops in from time to time. He thanks you all for your kind words and your support in wanting him back in the VH lineup. He was very honest and open in talking about the brothers. He has talked to Alex but not Eddie. Even HE doesn't know the whole story, but assumes he is out because of his association with Sammy, but points out, he went out with Sammy when Sammy asked him because the brothers weren't doing anything and no one was talking to him.

He said the induction into the R&R Hall of Fame was very bittersweet...it was the best night of his life and "only me and Sammy showed up!". He understands the rehab thing and Alex standing by Eddie as to why the brothers weren't there, but he said he has no idea why Dave wasn't there.

His basic message was that he is over the drama...they're not 25 anymore and he just wants to get out there and play and have a good time and that he can totally do that with Sammy.

He is WAAAAY cool and I have a whole new appreciation for him!

Thats good that he's moving on and having fun touring with Hagar. I'm tired of the drama to,I can imagine how he feels.

AK,

Thanks for the lowdown on your interview with Mikey.

I met him years and years ago, and he is, without a doubt, one of the nicest and most approachable people in the music industry. True rock star, but without the ego and dickhead attitude. Small wonder he and Sammy make it work so well. They're both all about having fun and bringing a good time to their fans. I will never pass up a chance to see them in concert.

Thats what I told him... that he and Sammy seemed like to crazy brothers just having a great time together. He laughed and said, "Yeah, we are the Martin and Lewis of the music world"
