Def Leppard/Styx/Foreigner show VA Beach 8/18/07 review

Foreigner in mine and my fiancee's opinion, stole the show. Even though they played for 45 min (As well as Styx did with Def Leppard playing an 1 1/2), I was very impressed with the lead singer, Kelly Hansen. This guy looks, if not spot on, to Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. He sounds like all the great Foreigner songs. His voice was amazing as was his energy on stage....He had the crowd going! Go see them if you get the chance. I love Lou Gramm, but Foreigner got lucky snagging a guy like Hansen. (My fiancee made a comment about this is how Journey was last year with Jeff Scott Soto)

Styx was good...but I liked them better a few years back. Tommy Shaw is as talented as ever but looks like a cave man with his long hair and scruffy face. JY kicked ass as always. Styx seemed they were really mixing up the melodies and harmonies to a lot of their hits which I was kinda bummed about. But playing the same songs for 25 years, I guess you have to mix it up.

Def Leppard is a prime act. Joe Elliott is a rock star to the "T". He knows how to work a crowd. He sounded so much better than he did last year (When I saw them with Journey). It is unbelievable to watch Rick Allen drumming with one hand. He does not miss a beat.

Thanks for the review on the show, I will be seeing them all in Vegas on Sept 22nd, heading there for a 50th trip with two girlfriends, we are really psyched about the show. I was concerned about the new lead singer, you never know, I try to keep an open mind, bands change, it's life, but your review has got me pumped up about seeing Foreigner again!!! I saw Styx and Def Lep both last year here in Atlanta. Styx played a small venue for about 2 hours, it was great! And D.L. was fantastic, although Journey with Soto was not that good, IMHO, even the fake Steve was much better. Will let you know how Vegas goes, it's at Mandalay Bay's venue, which should be great!
