Lou Gramm Band

Postby tcav34 » Wed Dec 05, 2007 2:25 am

Anyone seen Lou live lately? He has an upcoming date in San Jacinto California on Dec 12th, but I was wondering if he has recovered from his recent illnesses? I know he is still taking heavy medication, but don't know how that affects his ability to sing. Saw him a few years back with Foreigner, and being a long time fan, wanted to support his recovery. I must say however, he didn't sing very well. Really quite sad, being he was one of the best voices in rock at one time. Just curious if anyone has seen him or read any recent reviews.

I'll probably still go to support one of my idols growing up, but just curious for any info. Thanks.

LOU GRAMM played here in St Petersburg Florida for RIBFEST last month. He has put on weight due to medication he is on, and though he hasn't lost any stage presence, his voice is wavering alot. The band is top notch, but i was alittle bummed hearing Lou Gramm sing. His set list included all the Foreigner hits + several solo songs. So if you wanna take a chance ...

Just You Tube Lou Gramm Band and you will see some stuff from the past few months. (I did on Friday) His voice is not very good. It's not Lou's fault at all, so this is just sad. Man, looking at some old footage from the early 80s and the guy was amazing. He does not get enough credit when great vocalists's names are mentioned. Lou, like Steve Perry, Paul Rodgers and others can be mentioned in their company.

He's sounded like that basically since 1999.

the steroids he has to be on have deepened his vox, I don't mind at all.

It's still Lou Gramm.

At a glance on YouTube, Lou's performances seem to run the gamut from just "ok" to "mostly poor".
However, this performance really surprised me.
Maybe it varies with his daily meds, but this is a big improvement.

I've got it running in a hidden tab to judge only the sound.

It sounds good, the way I'd expect an older Gramm to sound. Damn good.

For those of you who may not know, Lou's new solo album is now on iTunes. The album is $9.90 and the songs are 99 cents. Of course, there are samples of every song on the album which is simply called the Lou Gramm Band. Happy listening, and possibly, buying!! 8)

I just bought the new album today, and on first listen....I really like it! His voice has definitely changed over the years, but considering what he's been through I think he's made a great album! I look forward to spending several hours taking it all in. It's definitely a departure from his past music as far as the new religious direction goes. For those against religion...you may want to look elsewhere, but there are a lot of very well-written and awesome songs in there! I'll post more later after I have more time with it.

Regarding his voice, I saw Foreigner back in 1999 when Lou just returned to them from his surgery and he sounded nothing like the Lou we all know. Even when he did the cover of Back in the Saddle for the Aerosmith tribute or the song Shed My Skin for the Liberty 'n Justice album, his voice was really low and hardly was recognizable.

Now comparing those two songs to the ones on this new album is like night and day. He sounds so much better and closer to "the voice" we all know. I doubt he will ever get back to the pre-surgery Lou, but this is the best he's sounded since then.

I agree! He sounds awesome with everything taken into consideration. So is anyone else going to the cd release party in Charlotte? I'd love to meet some of you there!
