Hi Everyone. Going to see Van Halen at Gwinnett Center near Atlanta Ga on Feb 25th, and really afraid that I am going to be disappointed. I am not expecting the guys to perform like in decades past, but I am hoping to have a rockin good time. Think I'll have a good time ??
Bands that have disappointed me lately from back in those days are ZZ Top, Foreigner, Alice Cooper.

You will NOT be disappointed in VAN HALEN. I saw them last night in Tampa, and they hit the stage at 8:30 and left at 10:45. David Lee Roth was in top form acting as the ringleader, Eddie Van Halen showed why he is one of the top 3 rock guitarists ever, Alex Van Halen just does not play the drums he attacks them as if tomorrow will never come. As much as Michael Anthony is missed, Wolfgang Van Halen did a good job on bass. He stays out of the spotlight, but he got a huge cheer from the crowd as he started the bass intro to Running With The Devil. So get ready to hear 24 classic Van Halen songs....

You were disappointed by Foreigner??? Every report I have heard has been stellar for them!

saw them in november. well worth the 165.00 ticket price
the only way youll be dissapointed is if your just a dave fanitic, and want him to do all the raps.
just one during ice cream man, or your expecting them to do van hagar stuff.
2+ hours of all the best VH songs
just dont over analize the show and enjoy the music.

Yea, and I'm not feeling that either. They're getting a TON of hype (relatively speaking) but I'm not digging this Hansen, Bonham, Pilson Mick Jones' All-Star Band lineup.

You won't be disappointed, I just hope the audio is better for you than what we had at Phillips!

Ah shit. Just got a notice from Ticketmaster that the Feb 25th concert is "postponed" and to wait for further updates. I think I also have the option of getting a refund from Ticketmaster. No reason posted on the Van Halen site. Anyone know whats going on ??

No surprise here. I think many people expected it to implode before now.

They cancelled Saint Louis so I missed seeing them. They rescheduled it for March 30th, but I've had a gut feeling that it would never happen. Oh well - from what I have heard, I didn't miss much.

I have seen both Van Halen and Foreigner in the last year. BOTH were fantastic! I got to see the 1st show of the tour in Charlotte and was glad we were early in the tour, knowing about the volitale personalities in the band. Van Hagar cancelled their Charlotte stop in 2004, so I was relieved we got our turn first this time around.

People, people, people. No one was a bigger naysayer than me at the launch of this tour. I was still having my doubts up until I saw them on 2/18. Yes, Dave's voice isn't where it was 30 years ago, but very, very few singers are as good as they were back in the day. Ed was fantastic, Alex was still powerful, and Wolfie earned his spot on the stage.

Van Halen has never, ever been about spot-on. There is always a healthy portion of slop in their playing. That guitar slamming thing on you tube is bollocks. Clearly, the rig was acting up. BTW, the guitar he is playing is one of several prototypes, so maybe there were issues there.

Remember, 3/4 of the band are in there 50s, and this hasn't been an 8 date US Tour a la Iron Maiden. VH is touring old-school, and that has got to be taking it's toll on their rather high-mileage frames.


So, if you've got tix and the show goes on, go on. If the tour crashes and burns, I'll bar-b-q my crow and eat it with a smile on my face knowing that for at least a little while longer, VH ruled again.

it seems eddie has fallen off the wagon with the drinking basically the whole tour causing friction between him and dave because of the drinking,forgetting certain things while playing and even wolfgang is supposedly disapointed in the situation too.there could very well be another stint in rehab before the whole thing is over.right now all parties are in deep discussions about exactly what moves need to be made next.do they soldier on and finish the tour with reputation still intact while putting up with the drinking episodes or do they try and deal with eddie's drinking issues and get him into rehab basically cancelling the tour and managing to anger those who had a stake in what was van halen.very well could be the end........

Ah well, I guess I'll get to marinating that crow for the big bar-b-q. Damn.
