Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports: Despite reports to the contrary, sources with VAN HALEN tell Billboard the band's tour is not being canceled, though tonight's (March 3) scheduled show at the American Airlines Center in Dallas has been postponed and rescheduled for March 24.

Three other dates have been postponed for undisclosed reasons. The source says the outing picks up on March 11 in Charlottesville, W.V., and a press release regarding the tour's status will be coming within 24 hours.

I absolutely love Van Halen...so dont get me wrong. BUT, I recently read an article (which I cant find now ) stating that the band was disappointed that the New York /Madison Square Garden tour was the only one sold out. Truly hate to be a cynic here, but I'm wondering if all this commotion is to simply get attention and get more seats sold. You know, very last chance to see them live thing

There were multiple shows on the tour sold out. They've played to over 600 thousand people in a little over 50 shows.

I believe the Dallas show is supposed to be on April 24 instead of March 24... unless they're bumping the Providence, RI show, which is scheduled for March 24.

edited to add: billboard.com's article does mention April 24 as the new date for Dallas.

Damage control...they're trying to ensure the bus stays on the road.

Multiple....hell, nearly every show was sold out. In the first leg, they sold like 99.6% of the available seats, and that's even counting the super-crappy obstructed view seats behind the stage.
Only reason any show wasn't sold out was because those seats didn't all sell.....ALL the decent seats sold. #5 grossing tour of 2007 and they didn't even start it until October.

No, that is stupid marketing and they aren't that sophisticated. They are pretty simple people.

The deal is that the ticket prices are too high, people with priorities have other things to pay for, and that tour is late for some to care.
