That's cool, Eyeof. I'll make sure to light one up for you when the other 25,000 of us are partying our asses off while seeing the greatest band in the history of rock.

What does a Survivor concert have to do with this seven?

but honestly, i hope all 25,000 of you have a great time listening to wolfies piped in base and DLR covered up vocals!
and by they way, there is no new material and there will not be, so won't it be the same exact concert as last time?

Sure light up quite a few while evh takes every vh fan for a ride ,while making deals with scalpers.
Can't you see that this band don't give a shit about their fans.
Eddie van halen is a bigger crook than gene simmons.
Good luck

I'd be excited about this if it came with new material.
Eddie can't really let VH go out with VH3, can he?

Without Sammy there to write the songs for him, what can he put out? You really think at his age 'Hot for Teacher ' is going to cut it!!!
Just kidding...I do LOVE 'I'll Wait', but I swear if that band hand not adapted with Hagar, they would have fizzeled out as fast as sooo many other's from that era....
Also, while watching the last Sammy DVD and seeing him sing with Cherone, while Mikey is playing bass and on a tour with DLR no less, it makes it pretty apparant who can't get along with ANYONE!

They aren't going to sell out arenas charging the money they did last tour. That was a one-time only deal, and they really only sold out in the first leg....that second leg didn't sell as well.
If VH wants to sell a lot of tickets now, they need to do one or more of these things:
New material
Tour with someone people have heard of. Or play with maybe 2 other name acts, and sell out amphitheaters. VH and two smaller acts that people know would do it.
Lower prices and get butts in the seats.

They sold 98% of the available seats for the whole tour, FYI.

Well, Eddie generally wrote the music and Dave/Sammy wrote the lyrics and melodies. I don't think VH would've fizzled out, but I don't think Dave would have been able to write or sing great stuff over what Eddie was writing by the
5150 era. Dave is all personality and attitude, and by the mid-80's Eddie was offering less of that and more melody and developed songcraft. I imagine stuff like "Love Walked In" and "Dreams" would've remained unreleased and Eddie would've been forced to churn out more generic riff-rockers to fit Dave's voice had the band continued.
Then again, I thought "Me Wise Magic" was a fucking amazing song, and that was more intricate than anything Ed wrote during the band's golden era.

Explain the bass and vocal remark?

From what I understand, there was definitely some "help" with bass tracks. Don't know about vocals though.

LOL...well seven said he was going to see the greatest rock band ever!
Just teasing actually, but Seven and Slander has some classic (and I mean classic) flame wars on the Survivor boards a ways back....
As for the Van Halen show, I was really just messing, but I do believe that wolfie boy had a great deal of help on that tour. As for DLR I haven't really heard that actually, although his voice sure got a lot better from 2002 to 2007. I did wonder if they didn't pipe in some back ground to cover MA absense....but not sure either...
Hey, I really enjoyed the show guys...I just think EVH has become a victim of himself and he really comes off like a jerk.

I'd almost forgotten about Kevin Sullivan (a.k.a. Slander) and his hard-on for all things Frankie Sullivan. Those were some great diatribes.

Bid deal. Another tour with the same songs played probably in the same order as last time. Will they become KISS and just keep touring the same stuff year after year? No thanks, VH. I'll spend my $ on brown M&M's instead.

Seriously? The greatest American rock band this side of Aerosmith - touring with the REAL singer for the second time in 26 years - is the same old, same old? OK. Whatever.

well to me skyscraper and parts of lil aint enough were way different and more commercial than anything VH had ever done.....not saying better but I think Dave would have done just fine with the music EVH was creating at the time if they had been able to still work together.

Well, it will be the same as the last tour unless they manage to put out some serious new music.

No offense to Andrew, but most of those are just guesses or wishful thinking by labels. "Chinese Democracy" was on Andrew's release list every year since I discovered this site in the late 90's.
I'm sure there's pressure on them to do new material, and I'm sure Eddie has a lot of pieces lying around, but that doesn't mean there will actually be a new VH album. (nor would lack of an album likely stop promoters from booking another oldies tour with the same setlist)

Now that Tiger has his 'apology' out of the way, it's time for Eddie to apologize for the murder of Van Halen!
