Gonna be sweet, and I'll be there! I'm still jamming on my new M.J. catalog, and just got all the way thru Dangerous just 2 days ago. I've been incredibly impressed catching up with all the stuff I passed on when it first came out. The dude was just an incredible artist and performer.

See... I've always dug MJ, but just have never got any of the CDs/albums/etc... was always thinking about it, but my dilemma is if i decide to up and do it now, I'm worried that I'll look like one of those "oh he died so now I should become a fan" people. The worst is going into Hot Topic and seeing all those posers in there suddenly SUPER in to MJ when they have obviously never been before. They're simply riding the current trend, and I find it disgusting. Come to think about it, maybe I should get the albums anyway, since I've always had the intent to and now they're actually ridiculously cheap at a lot of stores. Urgh... decisions, decisionis...

Looking forward to the new movie for sure.[/i]

The nice thing is you can buy the albums with anonymity behind the safety of your computer screen

Start with the lesser appreciated albums first then. Go for "Blood on the Dance Floor", "Invincible"... that sort. It's some of his best work, IMO anyway.

As a dancer I'm totally stoked about this coming to theaters b/c I can truly appreciate the effort & hard work that goes into creating all those subtle nuances that give Michael's dance moves the appearance of fluidity. Of course his music is great as well, but it's the dancing that is the driving force for me. The clip Barb provided says that this movie is scheduled to play for 2 weeks only.... tickets on sale September 27th ..... & so forth. Does anyone have any further information? Do I hafta purchase tickets in advance? Is it playing in select cities only? Will it make it to DVD? Whatever the case, I'm there!!!!

BTW, did anyone catch the show opening tribute to MJ on the MTV Awards? It was spectacular! Choreographers Chris Judd (best known as J-Lo's ex), Tyce Diorio, Wade Robson & Brian Friedman all participated in that event. I would have given anything to have been there. I met each of them during my brief stint on SYTYCD & they are all just a fantastic group of people. As I watched the Awards performance it was a real treat to get to see them up on stage dancing with Janet during the tribute to her brother as opposed to always seeing them in the role of choreographers.

http://www.thisisittickets.com ...No one really knows how the purchasing will happen specifically. It's worldwide. Don't know the extent of which markets/cities/theatres. And yes, the DVD will be out between the holidays. :)

Have to agree with Frank. Screw this. If MJ is such the great live star, why has he never put out a live album? I am sorry, dude was great in the studio, but one has to question is abilities live, as in real live.

I can think of 4 or 5 Stars still alive and performing today much better than MJ.

Flame away.

I agree
MJ was the king of smoke and mirrors
After 10 min of his act it grows old
It amazing what he did to himself

Actually, WJ wasn't even great in the studio....Quincy was.

The Martin Bashir interview exposed more than the fact that Whacko Jacko slept with boys. It exposed the fact that he's not much of a musician...he might be a 'performer'...which may or may not include an array of memorex behind him.....but as a creative musician, there's an empty shell there.

When Bashir asks him to show him how he writes his music, Whacko gets all coy. After a while, you realize it's not Whacko being coy, it's WJ afraid of being exposed for a lackluster musician. He barely knew his way around a keyboard...

Finally, Whacko acquiesces.....but he doesn't go over to the keyboard and start playing chords. He doesn't pick up a guitar and starts strumming it. In fact, he doesn't even sing/scat out some vocal lines. He goes over to the fucking stereo, puts on a song and starts doing half-drunken dancing....

Wow! I *was* impressed!

remember the video of the dancing auditions that came out shortly after mj's death? that was so sad... your heart had to break for all those dancers so excited to be working with mj... this was to be their dream. so i find this footage very heartwarming.

think what you want about mj but he made a lot of people happy with his music & dance. sad that people have to crap all over him after he dies. so disrespectful. i wouldn't expect less from some here though.

Oh, grow up. This is the real world. This has nothing to do with disrespect. I'm not posting pictures of his dead body minus his prosthetic nose. We're talking about what kind of an artist he was. I didn't think he was much of one...and I am entitled to my opinion, despite your desperate attempt smear me (or others) who don't share your point of view by labelling us 'disrespectful.' You want to talk about disrespect? You're a sack of it! If you can't respectfully deal with differing opinions on your sainted jacko, without trying to smear those who don't agree with you....I submit, you are the one without any semblance of respect.

If his estate or other people are going to cash in on his death (which can be argued is far more disrespectful than anything else) by releasing product for public consumption, people are entitled to critique his lifes work. In fact, as a musician/artist (if you feel you need to give him such a title) his life's work is more than fair game for us to critique, alive OR dead.

Just because you don't like the fact that someone didn't think he was all that great, doesn't make the opinion any less valid. Find a more respectful way to address this.

Save the tears Cinderella. I crapped on his alive time, not his death time. The guy wasn't all that. Man are you ever fucked up in the head.

True. Nobody on here really ever mentioned Michael or his music nor any of my friends, but now everyone is buying all his CDs and listening.

Don't have to use youtube, I have it on my hard drive. Have you watched it again since you posted in the thread below?

I don't think the ability to dance should equate to millions of records sold. Talent, with respect to record sales, should be musical...not choreographic. There's zero evidence that Jackson wrote his own music....and when Bashir asked him to unfold the writing process in his video, the child-molester started dancing for him....WTF! I've never seen Jackson play a musical instrument...etc...

Ok, I just wanna clarify something, since you've said this twice now. In the doc, Bashir asked Michael, "How do you write a song?", and Michael explained, "If I sat down at this piano(*gasp* an instrument!) and played some chords or whatever and said, 'I'm gonna write the best song I've ever written', nothing happens", and he explained how it has to be the right time and you have to feel inspired...then he went on to explain how he wrote Billie Jean and Bashir asked if it was the same for the dance, Michael said it was, and Bashir said, "Ok, show me...get up and show me.". Michael didn't want to, and Bashir insisted.

Re-watch that part and you'll see it.

Anyway, sorry about the long explanation but you made me.

Michael Jackson lackluster? not really a performer? How blind and or deaf can you be? Oblivious too? Record sales show, tour sales show that this man was a juggernaut performer and artist. Just because your opinion states that he wasn't great there are numbers that PROVE that he was a very influential and powerful artist.
