We all of us are going through or have gone through layoffs...thank you to those who shared your stories with me, BTW. I thought I would share with you all my little "soap box" moment at the Board of Supervisors yesterday at City Hall. I am being laid off along with about 500 DPH employees. I loathe public speaking, but sometimes ya do whatcha gotta do! There is a lot on the adgenda, so forward to 2:30:25 for me looking like a wild angry bush woman. Just a hot mess, really.

Here's hoping everyone has a great "hump" day! MBPL (Lorrie) :D

I think you did a great job! Not angry. Factual and to the point. Hope it makes a difference. 8)

Now what's with the guy at 2:36:53   What's funny, is we have a few "regulars" that attend our city commission meetings in our tiny town and it's always interesting the things they have to say  I love how the commissioners have to let them speak, and they cant' laugh at them, and they have to thank them each time, no matter WHAT they do or say. And some are just elderly people who mean well, but have the strangest ideas. Like the regular who came up with the idea of seeding the clouds somehow so that we can avoid future hurricanes. He read a book where he saw that done and wondered if the city could do some research into that so maybe we could make it happen here. I have no idea how they keep a straight face with some of them. I'm sure in a big city like SF it gets way more interesting! I bet comedy books could be written on some of the things that happen!

Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you find a new job!

OMG! You have no idea how weird people in my town can be! I had never before attended Supes board meetings and I realize most people are passionate they feel like they are not being considered. One mother almost got thrown out for speaking too long about the Bayview which is an environmentally unsafe neighborhood. What I want to know is, how do those Supes do it, sit there and listen for hours and hours?!? Me? I'd have a big ole bottle of JD or Champs under my desk! I had to bite my bottom lip on most of the people who spoke before me.

Hey, know what? I might take your suggestion into consideration and sit in on those meetings and write a boook! Thanks for the idea, my friend and thank you for your comment! :D

A movie! A book. It would be quite funny with the different characters that come to a city council meeting; some of the same people each meeting, a spattering of different characters speaking with some bizarre commentary; but the stream that would flow through and which could be the funniest would be those who come back through and are thrown out midway every meeting, or those who have nothing new to say; say the same thing or are unable to speak coherently enough for people to understand and then those who statements reallyhave an impact but there is nothing that can be done to change the outcome...the possiblities are endliess. I can just imagine a Seinfeld episode with this or Tina Fey. Oh well, it's funny to me!

HERE IS OUR YOUTUBE LINK FROM OUR MARCH TO THE MAYOR'S OFFICE. I WAS THE ONLY ONE, IF YOU SEE ME, NOT IN T-SHIRT, BECAUSE I HAD MISSED OUT AFTER HAVING LEFT THE BOARD OF SUPES.

When I read the thread title I figured I would see an angry Laura Bush beating the shit out of Dubya.

Damn.
