Innocent Photos Get Kids Taken Away From Parents

Today's moment-of-pause has been brought to you by Wal-Mart and the city of Peoria, Az. Apparently, some photo-clerk vigilante, diligently on the lookout for child pornography, saw photos of kids during bath time and decided to call the cops, according to a story on Good Morning America.

Next thing the parents of these kids knew, the children were removed from their home. For an entire month. Mom got suspended from her job for a year and both -- Anthony and Lisa Demaree -- were added to a list of sex offenders. The judge in the case said the pix were harmless.

"I don't understand it at all," Anthony Demaree told GMA, with his wife by his side. "Ninety, 95 percent of the families out there in America have these exact same photos."

Now they've got another shot to take. This time it's directed at Wal-Mart and their hometown.

My brother-in-law is a police officer near here, and he says it's fine to spank them as long as you don't leave a welt. He said you can be charged with injury to a child if someone makes a complaint. I got whipped about every time we went to the store when I was a kid too, and I KNOW my dad left welts. But I don't consider that being abusive, just a dad that's tired of telling his kid to mind.

So you're not laughing? :)

On the flip side. In today's tech age, what numbskull uses film for kiddie tub shots and gets it developed at Walmart?

Never seen "One Hour Photo"? Never know who's gonna be ogling your kids or wife.

Buy a cheap digicam and take all the pics you want. Print them yourself or use the machine at the local drugstore.

My dad once hit me in the gonads with one of those super-sized whiffle-ball bat...granted, I was trying to sneak out a 6-pack of his shitty Schlitz beer at 15...but damn, that brought me to my knees!

The world these days sickens me. Innocent parents get shit like this and somehow a girl gets kidnapped and held for like 19 years with nobody noticing... disgusting.

Yeah this is a pretty lame thing that happened. What parents don't have pix of their kids in the tub when they were babies and under 5 years old? I think parents should be able to have these types of pix without having to worry about being treated like they did something wrong. Now if a person who's not a parent of the kids made copies for him or herself, that would be a whole different deal.

What comes to mind right now is that album cover for the album "Nevermind" that Nirvana had back in the early 90's. Surprised authorities haven't deemed that child porn since it shows a naked baby with his shween.

I don't have a problem with the Wal-Mart employee - when it comes to children and suspected abuse, it should always be check it out and better safe than sorry - but I do have big issues with the child services employee who made the decision to take the children away. That's knee-jerk beauracracy, somebody covering their own butt, not looking after the welfare of the children.

Although I think it's a little weird to be taking baths with your 5 or 6 year old daughter, I still am laughing my ass off at this post.

This whole thing is ridiculous. They wrecked those peoples' lives over this. If you're going to throw around such heavyweight accusations, you better damn well have stronger proof than a frickin' nakey-baby picture. ALL parents have those and it is NOT a big deal.

You bet they do.
But Tito is shy, so he wears his "Transformers" swimming shorts in the bathtub.
Unless Dan was lying when he told me that.

They were "Muppets" weren't they?!?! I knew it.

You don't have a problem with the Wal-Mart employee??

So you don't have a problem with the Wal-Mart employee's invasion of the family's privacy? Last I checked, a walmart employee doesn't go through the necessary training required to spot such 'abuse' in a photograph.

Sorry. This sorta thing is sickening...and equally sickening that you would condone the behavior of this employee. Look at what this piece of shit and his so called 'better safe than sorry' actions resulted in:

Children removed from parents from 1 month
Mother losing her job
Mother and Father put on a list of sex offenders

Holy fucking shit. They couldn't get fucking Michael Jackson on that fucking list, despite gobs of proof...yet these poor parents were thrown on it without so much as a second look. Holy fuck!

If child protective services tried to remove my children because of a bathroom photo of my kids in the bathtub, they'd have a few dead CPS agents to clean up on my front lawn. Holy fuck!

You condone this behavior?

Where do you live? remind me never to go there....last thing I'd want is you developing my photos.

Now, Frank, Why dont you tell us exactly how you feel, bro ? ;) btw I agree , the wallyworld employee isnt hired by FBI, so they need to focus on their job, not invading people's privacy...

We've got tons of bath photos of our kids. There isn't a parent on earth that is different from us, Lula.

And if something inappropriate had been going on? Then some people would be flaying the employee and child services for not protecting the kids.

Thankfully, my mom never took a picture of me naked...always had diapers on. :P

So you're ok with Wal-Mart (Target / Walgreens / etc...) employees looking through personal photographs and determining if something "inappropriate" is going on?

Another one that condones the actions of a walmart photo employee making minimum wage to act as a child guardian on behalf of the state?

I'm sorry....there's NOTHING in this person's job description that empowers him to do this....and both he/she and child protective services need to make this family whole again...

Oh wait, they cant! They ripped these children from their parents for a fucking month. They'll never see that month back...ever....

Either you don't have children or you hate your job as a parent enough to not mind losing them for a month...
