These clips alone are satisfying my music taste. The melodic feel to it is THROUGH THE ROOF and displays much energy in hooks, chorus, and esp the vocals. JSS has completely won me over as a solo artist and has gained a new fan of his style, and the music behind him makes him sound even better and brings out his strengths in a studio setting. I'm highly anticipating this one in November, no doubt.

So looking forward to the release. Does anyone know if this is going to get any distribution in record stores? I know I can order it on the net but I wish Jeffs music was available in stores. They may start to faz out which would be unfortunite because I like the old fashioned way of buying music by going to a record store. Theres a store here where I live called Hastings....they have DVDs, Music, video games and books with a little coffee shop in the corner. I love to browse through a bit on a Saturday afternoon. They buy back used too! 8)

I doubt it. From the posts on the main board, it doesn't appear that Frontiers Records has distribution set up in the US. You have to remember the sales market for this genre. You are looking at ~15,000 sales if it does good--which means you can count by hundreds in the US. It's certainly not anything that American radio will play, so there's not much incentive to put it in a store. Doesn't have anything to do with quality, but don't kid yourself on the economics of releasing 80s melodic rock/AOR with a new band without one famous "name" (as far as your average household) in 2009. It's a VERY niche market.

To anyone that has actually followed JSS, this shouldn't come as a surprise. The guy can sing--he just often doesn't get a chance to show it as the majority of his material doesn't call for soulful crooning.

Maybe it's me....but while the WET material is good, it doesn't sound any "better" than some of the stuff Journey has done recently. Lyrically, some of the Journey material is certainly better. I'll reserve final judgment until I hear the full thing, but I hear a cd that is a cut above the average AOR cd with a world-class singer on it. Some it sounds good enough to be on a Journey cd, but I don't see it as any better than what Journey is doing. We shall see...

Agree 100%. The samples of this album sound phenomenal, and it's in the style of Journey and other big hook, big chorus music that I love. But it's not any "better" than what Journey has been doing.

This isn't designed to start a major debate amongst listeners about which is "better," and I don't think this album was created trying to prove that something is inherently "better" than something else.

I view the W.E.T. album as a classic melodic rock album that is going to be a cut above most of the rest, thanks to killer vocals by one of the best in the business. It's the style of music that I like, and I'm always wanting to add more music like this to my collection. Comparing it to what is already out there and trying to form some sort of ranking is pointless.

From what I hear so far, this might be the best melodic rock album since Def Leppard Hysteria.....

I'm not really sure who the guitarist is, but he fuckin' rocks. He just has an electric feel to his playing (no pun intended). Aside from his playing, the rest is just really average.

Guitarist is Erik Martensson. Average? I think it is some of Jeff's best vocals. Going to be a great melodic rock album. But I guess anything is just average after Revelation, eh Dan? Image

The last clip listed was a keeper. The others, ehh, not so much. Should be interesting to hear the entire disc though.

Make that two voices in the wilderness. I'm with SJ, sounds ok to me but not great. I'd take Soul Salvation over what I've heard thus far.

Doesn't linking the MR front page to a WET ad send the wrong message for an objective review?

How so? All my reviews are objective and I have no problem giving prise where I think it is due.

I only give extra attention to albums I thoroughly believe in and think deserve it. You won't see me giving the same attention to the new Lita Ford for example. Why should I not advertise an upcoming release? That's my fricking job ain't it?

I supply soundbytes for all albums I review, so there is hardly any way I could mislead anyone by trying to sell lead as gold????? I wouldn't be in business for long if I did so would I?

I'm somewhere in the middle. If I Fall sounds really good, and the other sample of Comes Down Like Rain in the big preview sounds really good--so maybe that one is a grower. The others are in the average to slightly above average, with average lyrics. The big selling point though is maybe JSS's best ever vocal performance, which lifts things quite a bit. It's hard to judge on samples, but I'm hearing an above average release--not a classic. Maybe my opinion will change once I hear the full album.

I get a slight Asia-style vibe from One Love, maybe just the recurring keyboard riff. The stuff sounds pretty good - certainly well produced. I'm not pissing myself over the samples yet though. If I Fall sounds like it's gonna be a killer song though!
