so...any horror movies fans here?? if you are or not, i bet you all know about the Freddy Krueger saga..now there is a new remake that will be in USA early next year, hopefully will get to my country too
This movie for what i read have a new actor for Freddy Krueger role, yes,no more Robert Englund  but i think is not so bad after all since next Freddy will be play by the excellent actor Jackie Earle Haley (if you don't know who is he, check the movie Little Children, he make in that movie the role of a pedophile, and he act in Watchmen too)

Can't wait to see this remake, i don't expect too much of hollywood horror movies nowdays, but i still have some hope :D

This is the new trailler

Agreed.

I'm apprehensive on this one. Elm St is my all time favorite horror flick (before they turned Freddy into a gruesome Groucho Marx with those ridiculous one-liners), and I hate to see it violated. It's like Revelation Disc 2. "Omg, whyyyyy are you doing that! Leave a great thing alone!"

But I don't doubt I'll see it anyway. :?

Beat me to it Carla. I Learned this morning.. finally.. about the trailer being out for this movie. I'm a huge horror buff, and I've seen the Halloween and Friday the 13th re-makes, and even though they re-envisioned classic characters/legends, the story itself in this new sci-fi world kind of got dull and boring about an hour in.

It was pretty sweet to see my favorites back on the big screen, but NO ONE can compare to Nightmare on Elm Street.. my all time favorite. Krueger is the best character ever and I'm glad they are sticking to the original story, cooperating the unforgettable scenes, but yet re-working them to shed new light on the scenes. I'm ecstatic that the director and crew did a different take on his image but still paying respects to Robert Englund, keeping all fans happy from any side of the spectrum.

A horror movie, esp that a re-make of a classic isn't supposed to be a GOOD movie, but a thriller, and judging by the trailer alone and sticking to the basics, this Nightmare seems to be on a better track compared to Friday the 13th and Halloween. As far as the Nightmare sequels, to me they don't exist, there's only ONE Nightmare on Elm Street. :D

Long live FREDDY KRUEGER!

Really surprised that Englund passed the torch.
I thought he was just holding out for more money.
Haley will fill the knife glove just fine, but unlike Jason or Meyers, Freddy isn't some reticent brute.
Englund came up with the voice, the attitude etc.

The voice is all wrong, and the make-up is weird....I'll probably RENT it. I won't, however, slap down $10.75 to watch it.....hollywood's track record with remakes, rehashes, reimagings....whatnot - is quite shaky.

Englund was actually scrapped off from the get-go. He made it perfectly clear that he was upset and disappointed that he wasn't considered to return, but the new director wanted the re-make to be re-visioned and a different outlook altogether and even though England will A-L-W-A-Y-S be Freddy, I'm glad they are re-imagining him in a different manner and a younger audience. This will shape up quite well, but SHOULD be watched with an open mind and go from there. All fans should be fired up that he's back. Personally, I'm lovin' this.

At the outset, the producers were pretty quiet as to who would be playing Kruger.
But yeah, it was generally known Englund was out.
Contrary to being sad about it tho, Englund made it quite clear he didn't want to play it again.
Saying -

"I wouldn’t mind playing a cameo; it would be interesting to see if I could play the dream psychiatrist, I have heard that there is an interesting script regarding a prequel to the original going around. But lets face it I’m not a kid anymore; I have done a variety of films in many genres. I came out of that makeup after 10 years, and after I did a whole bunch of different films I did Freddy vs. Jason and have been real busy since. I could probably don the makeup, but they would certainly need a stunt double for the action stuff. I’m only good for about one take; then I get kind of sore."

He's at peace with it and I'm glad he has that kind of attitude of passing the torch to Haley. Years ago he said at a comic-con and it's on youtube that he was dis-heartened to not be asked to return, but he realizes he's not getting any younger and that re-makes are a part of Hollywood these days and that he has come to peace with stepping out of the makeup after 25 plus years. He'll always be a living mortal as long as Freddy is concerned.

Me too, i love this..even if this movie can't be near as good as the original, i see this like a tribute..beside there is these two good actors in this movie: Jackie Earle Haley and Kyle Gallner (he did a good job in another new horror movie The Haunting in Connecticut)...as far as the director Samuel Bayer, i know he work in many musical videos from some bands like Metallica,Iron Maiden, candlebox and others (he direct smell like teen spirit from Nirvana, i don't know why but i see in that vid some Freddy's movies vibe) ..this guy seem a newbie in horror films, let's hope he don't dissapoint us the fans

Viva Freddy Krueger!!

Jackie Earle Haley, love this guy acting he should won an oscar in little children (some scene in that movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eafHbI03 ... re=related)

I just remembered where I have seen Jackie Earle Haley before.... he was a child actor and played the motorcycle riding delinquent and love interest of Tatum O'Neal in the original Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau.

I just looked it up to make sure and the reports on Englund about being disappointed and dis-heartened were rumors and a false report. Englund has been the ultimate pro and supported this and was certainly interested in seeing how this could turn out in today's filming and he said regarding Friday the 13th and Halloween, Nightmare is a perfect movie and scenario to do for today's filming and is excited to see the story in that light. He responded with the up-most respect and genuine attitude about the re-make.

Here's a video of him speaking of the re-make last year if interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6oIyB0xKiQ

Also here's a behind the scenes look at making the re-make. Re-watching it, I'm not sure what this is actually as far as if this apart of just the building stages.. but it looks pretty cool. I think it's just a fan made film but I like things like this nonetheless.

I am looking forward to this. I agree that the make-up and the voice take some getting used to. But I also couldn't see Robert playing the role of Freddy before he was killed.

I hate the world of reboots, remakes, etc. But I find that many have done an okay job and in horror they are keeping the genre going. Sadly, most of the horror genre is very low-budget. So for money-makers we get reboots. As long as it's done fair, I have accepted it...

Shit they lowered my local cinema to 5.50 a person and a top rated one 6.50 a person. 10.75 is rape.

I've stopped watching "today's" horror flicks. I've spent countless and countless dollars on dates, Friday, Saturday, and 12.am nights on these movies and each time I've either fallen asleep, or regretted not walking out sooner to catch the All American Slam special at Denny's. Terrible. Today's horror flicks are so bad that it really is embarrassing and yet, laughable. Hollywood has no choice to bring back Freddy, Jason, or Michael because the creative teams are pretty much non existent and re-hash the same movie over, and over again. Thank god for these re-makes, or I'd be one bored customer.

Just saw that Haley is signed on to do at least 3 Nightmare movies, so that means they are completely rebooting the whole franchise. This is Hollywood's chance to do the character right and stick to the gorey, evil, dark & vicious Krueger we saw in the original, rather than the comedian we saw from 3 on.

The only thing I support about this is the idea that if they do it right, it could be REALLY scary, therefore, really good.

The days of SCARY is over sweetheart. This is a character that's been in the public eye for decades. This may get a few jumps out of someone, but being scared to the point of pissing your pants will never be seen on screen ever again. Hollywood lost that potential years ago.

Yet another icon of my childhood potentially destroyed... first, Friday The 13th, and now this. I really hope this is better than it looks.

Robert Englund, we need you!!!

They need to get Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash (and/or Michael Myers?) made like NOW.

I'd even go for a team-up of Freddy and Angela from Night Of The Demons vs. whoever, hopefully Ash. What I really want I guess is another Bruce Campbell-starring Evil Dead film. But yeah, this... this I definitely don't like the looks of. Completely redoing the shot of the claws in the bathtub is especially lame. Michael Bay? Ugh.

Fingers crossed that he actually pulls this off.

Except the vampires in Twilight aren't "real" vampires at all... VAMPIRES DON'T FUCKING SPARKLE IN SUNLIGHT. They burn to death if they're in it long enough, sometimes even exploding in the process... like in John Carpenter's Vampires, and just about EVERY other vampire movie. I seriously doubt it will get producers to put money into horror films, because that's not what Twilight was. The vampire thing was just incidental. Really, I see more producers putting money into emo/quasi-goth melodramatic teeny bopper stuff because of this. Twilight was only the beginning...
