While nobody can take away the championships that the Steelers and Penguins won, it's probably also worth mentioning that the Pirates have been one of the most pathetic franchises in baseball for the past 20 seasons and there isn't even a basketball team to discuss! By the way...The Sporting News also recently ranked Peyton Manning (A guy with one single championship) "The QB of the decade"! BTW: This is the first time EVER that Pittsburgh was picked as the #1 sports city via Sporting News, and that will always bring a smile to a fan who supports their city and team. Dude, the Pirates ARE the most pathetic and I always said that includes dead first in sports that include rugby, golf, tee-ball, and crochet. Never mind the Pirates, within a 4 month span, the Steelers and Penguins each captured titles from their respective sports in dramatic fashion and are two teams that contend and will continue to contend every year for a championship. The Steelers won the Super Bowl 2 years before this, and the year before the Penguins Cup victory, they made it to the finals. P-I-T-T basketball ranked #1 for most of the year in College basketball, had a tremendous year and had the city buzzing from all over. P-I-T-T football had their first Bowl appearance under Wannstedt and defeated their rival WVU in the backyard brawl.

Another PA team, Philly, won the world series and the Eagles made their bid all the way to the NFC Championship game, as well as the Flyer's bowing in the NHL post season to.. you guessed it, Pittsburgh. Really the State of Pennsylvania is riding high and I can bask in it whether you think it's idiotic or not. These things are for the fans anyhow. As far as me using "We" that's for another topic, but for someone who is the most defensive on this board and is the most outspoken when they feel the need to speak, you sure have a lot of room to talk since you think you're the Rodger Goodell of MR and hold New England to the highest standard.

I grew up playing football but hung up the uniform long ago, and accept my role as a fan! Also, even though I'm a fan, I'm also quite realistic about the teams I root for, in terms of whether they're good, bad, or ugly! I've already said the Red Sox aren't winning it this season. Just because I'm a fan doesn't mean that I think my hometown team is going to automatically win just by showing up!

This is an easy statement and argument for just an arguer. I know that a lot of people kind of get offended for some reason when fans use the term WE, and I debated this many of times on this board before. Not to try to make a big episode about it, I'll just plead my case as best as I can, as it is a habit more than anything. I know I'm not apart, nor do I play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it's 100% guaranteed that I never will. If ANY fan shouldn't be apart of something, then why buy a jersey, or product of that team in the first place? You aren't apart afterall, right? Anyone who has ever tried to use the "We" arguments but owns a Tony Romo jersey sitting at home is a huge HYPOCRITE!

With that said, I mention "WE" as a honor and homage to my city, which I AM apart of, to which I have a heavy background of a blue collar family, and spend countless of dollars on Steelers tickets/merchandise daily, monthly, and yearly. Last year I attended about 5 regular season games and made it to both rounds of the playoffs, and that includes the AFC Championship Game, to which both things aren't easy to snag, nor are cheap to land. When you are emotionally invested in the team as much as I ( yourself included) am then you can't help to feel apart of the whole experience that makes up the game of football. If this wasn't the case, then the football gods would of never included stadiums to begin with, or Jerry Jones wouldn't of built a 100,000 plus stadium, FOR THE FANS. Look at Rex Ryans PLEA to the Jets fans.. the 12th man that game had a HUGE difference on how the Patriots played, and it should be no different for any other teams on the road. Fans are more connected than you think, and players know this.

In fact it's us who ultimately choose, and earn a players salary believe it or not by not only watching at home on Television, but sitting our fat ass's in the stands every week. Buying these players merchandise is a whole other beast of itself on why the fans are important to the game. "WE" isn't meant to say ""I'm on the 53 man roster!" but WE signifies a honorship and complete dedication to the city and to the team that has a long list of history with ones family, and judging by that concept, I don't see a problem in that.

As far as the rest of your statement, I agree and that's where me and you are so alike. I am a diehard fan through and through, but I always did tell it like I saw it, rather than thinking the Steelers will just show up and win. It's not my fault that the team I adore is one of the most successful franchises of all time, and are coming off of 2 championships in 4 years! Ive went through tough times as a Steelers fan before these two championship victories, and let me tell you there was always doubt in the city since we couldn't get a step over the ledge before the '05 season! They are a great franchise and are winners and I never make anything up regarding this. When they suck, I admit they suck, and when they play great, I admit they play great. It just happens to be that the Steelers win more than they lose and that makes a fan like me beam with confidence, as do yourself.
