What's going on with MacDonald's lately? Firstly, I am completely perturbed that it cost me $6.19 for a lousy bacon, egg & cheese biscuit and latte today. What is the world coming to if it costs this much for a fast food breakfast? Their new lattes cost just as much as Starbucks too and there is a 1/4 gap of empty cup space. And I actually ordered the McGriddle but the cashier got my order wrong & I didn't find it out until I went to bite into the hard, dry biscuit on the bus to work...which brings me to crappy customer service - stupidity is an epidemic spreading at MacDonald's, along with ignorance and obsurdity. Recently, I ordered a egg mcmuffin and got a sandwich with bacon/sausage/cheese and NO EGG on a EGG mcmuffin Then spent 30 minutes later that day arguing with the manager for a coupon for a free sandwich next visit because of their mistake. They are even gyping me of the monopoly game pieces on cups...what the hell is going on?? The ice cream machine is always "being repaired"...how is this a way to run a business? Just needed to vent...

I guess since I only eat fast food in a pinch, like maybe once or twice a month I don't have enough overpriced exposure to let it bother me. I normally bring my lunch to work or go sit down in a good place. I've got a nice and convenient drive thru espresso place that is competetively priced, so overall, I just don't feel your pain.

The McDonald's breakfast is worse for you than the donut so if becoming a cream puff is the worry, avoid the McDonald's and get the coffee and donut. Less calories, less expensive and less frustration.

Last spring I wrote an entire diatribe in a blog about horrible service. It was nearly every time I went out, and it was no matter where I went. You have to let go of the frunstration over it and turn it into a game.... go into any fast food joint and order something to be made differently than the monkeys are trained to make it and wait for mayhem. I recommend doing this when you aren't in a rush though.

I'll tell the sour cream story because it's the worst one... I was getting a Steak Burrito Bol at Chipotle. I promise you people, I order it the same way every time, word for word for a very specific reason. Several Chipotle food fails taught me a lesson. So I give the same ingredient directions every time. Rice, black beans, steak, mild salsa (sometimes corn), "a really little bit of sour cream", and cheese. I make the thum/index finger an inch apart gesture when I say "really little bit of sour cream" because I KNOW my audience.

One particular evening, I gave that direction, and the girl was looking right at me when I made the gesture and said LITTLE bit.

She might as well have cement trucked that shit onto my food! I could see no food poking through, there was so much sour cream on it! It gets better.

I reacted. I said - exact quote - "whoa, that is a truckload of sour cream!" figuring she would get the point and make a new one (because I don't like to say "excuse me make a new one!" because I don't want a booger in it when I'm not looking). So here is what she does - now mind you, this is not cheese shreads or something than can be picked off. It's liquidy THIN sour cream. She uses a little plastic cup and her hand (gloved) to try and scoop liquid off of my food. Rhiannon witnessed this - she can tell I'm not exaggerating. So we're both staring at her and finally her boss, or whoever it was told her to just stop, and make a new one. I left going, "did that just happen!?"

We never eat fast food and that includes corporate pizza. It is all dough ! There are too many family owned excellent pizzas. Every once in awhile KFC , White Castle, Skyline Chili or Burger King can't be resisted !

Seriously though, the donut at the donut shop is probably not as bad for you as the stuff your engauging in at Micky D's. Want to lose some weight? It's simple, just eat stuff that goes through you fast, and most importantly.....stay away from cured meat products such as sausage, bologne, ham, bacon, hot dogs, slim jims, etc. That stuff just kills your guts I'm telling you. Let me put it to you this way, two times in the last year meat factories have caught on fire, one in my area which was a sausage factory and the other one I think was out of state where they were making Slim Jim products. And every time they had to send in the HAZMAT team to deal with the on-site chemicals there. So why would anyone want to put that type of stuff in their system....it's beyond me.

Micky-D's and Taco Bell were about the only places I'd eat fast food in my life and I stopped eating at them in about 95' maybe 96'. It got to the point where I'd eat at one of those two places and then after the meal was down the gullet, I'd walk away feeling horrible and asking myself why did I eat that stuff. Want to see the run-off from the food they are serving at those places? It's out back behind the building in 55 gallon grease drums. That is exactly what your putting in your body when you eat at those places. Those places are so bad that just walking past them gives me gas.

I think I know what your talking about with Penara. They have one on Steven's Creek in Sunnyvale that my wife discovered about a year ago. We go to it on occasion (once or twice every six months or so). I liked it but it also seems to be a real happening place for college students to study and network with each other. Maybe cause the college is just down the street, I'm not sure.

I did stop in to get only an ice coffee at McDonald's for the first and last time about two years ago. I didn't drink even half of it and I felt horrible. It was very bad, I'm guessing they used instant coffee and it may have been sitting there in the dispensing container for a few days. Made me feel like puking so I won't even get a liquid refreshment from Micky Dees either. Maybe it's just Micky Dees in my area I don't know, but it is really shitty here.

I thought of a McDs story. This happened when I was in high school. I was out somewhere with my parents... on the way home I whined about being hungry, or something, so we ran through a McDs on the way home and grabbed Big Macs. I have to give away the ending first because it's not even the funniest part... whoever was making the food at Mac & Don's that night kind sorta fucked it up a little and gave us Big Macs with no Macs in them. We got Special Sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on sesame seed buns without any all beef patties.

3 sandwiches, all of them made like that. The funny part? I didn't even notice a difference.

One of my parents came in and asked if I thought the sandwich tasted funny.

"Nomnomnom*munch*nom.... no why?"

"I don't know something isn't right."

I looked at my HALF eaten sammich, unable to figure out what they were talking about. Then I hear my dad go "There's no meat!"

I looked inside the sandwich and.. yup. Veggie Mac.

The food is crap but their regular coffee is the bomb. I'll take it over Starbucks any day.

The folks that sued McDs for "making them" fat need to get a life.

+1 Food, retail, EVERYWHERE. I order parts for work (crane & hoist biz) and 90% of the time, my orders are wrong in some stupid way. I think the world is either dumber or I think they just don't care about anything anymore. No one pays attention. I've stopped going to just about every fast food place near work because every one of them screws my orders up. I found three (Taco Bell, White Castle & Arby's) that are twice as far that I visit because not only are my orders right every time but the staff at both places are very friendly and attentive. So when I do go out to eat, which is rare because it is getting too pricey for the same amount of food, I only go to these places. I've HAD it with unfriendly people.

Can't stop laughing about this one - great story! I haven't been to McD's in years but ANY hamburger joint always puts mustard on my burger, even tho I say "NO MUSTARD PLEASE" at least twice - and that's not something you can scrape off either. I do have good memories of their fries however...although I heard somewhere that they inject the potatoes with fat before they cut them into fries to make them taste better.

That actually happened to my friend once, too. He ordered two double cheeseburgers, and opened them up to find that he was about to eat two double cheese sandwiches. How does that happen???
