U2 Disappointed By Selling One Million Albums

See that...it's all a matter of perspective. If Journey does this, you have 10 morons signing on to tell you that Journey has been "reborn" and they are now Elvis. U2 does it and they're like "What the fuck...this blows"

U2's motivation is political so of course they really don't care how many albums they sell. They are primarily motivated by the numbers of how many political views they've changed/formed with their music.

what is this deluxe version of unforgettable fire? i love u2, always have. don't have the most recent release and probably won't bother. at least they continue to challenge themselves and their audience ;).

John, that's because it's true. Journey selling 1M albums is a feat. U2 selling a million albums is a joke. Career perspective.

(Which Bono is a joke IMO anyway...)

I enjoyed their music more before I knew how political it was. Political songs are as important to me as writing a song about saving the poor helpless dustmites on the moon.

I love, love them too, but they only sold one million b/c many of their fans were terribly disappointed by this CD (reviews on MR at the time in a thread weren't good), and word of mouth did it in too as far as sales and some average reviews. I try to love it but it's subpar for them. Bono needs to sing in his lower register more b/c his upper register has gone so thin and it's not appealing in many of these new songs. I will still listen to it from time to time b/c of my loyalty to them too and there are some good songs on there definitely. It's not a clunker.

The new cash for clunkers program:

Bring all your U2 CDs to the used record store....

You are so far off base with that comment. Sure, their political views are important to them and do show up in concert and music. But you obviously don't follow them or read their interviews or own their last several albums to say that's their main motivation. That's a broad comment coming from someone I suspect who doesn't follow them and generalizing the band. And I give Bono credit, he has always worked with both parties in America for his humanitarian efforts b/c he says he's more effective that way. They have acknowledged sometimes in the past his activism was getting in the way of their making music and didn't want that to overwhelm it, and have made efforts for it to be about the music. They are a spiritual band, except one, I think, and are deeply religious and have been since they formed, and it is reflected in their music that way in many songs.

Even The Police have made music with political undertones.

If you feel the need to worry about that kind of stuff, you might end up purging half your music collection.

Fuck Bono...Fuck the edge (what the fuck kind of name is 'the edge' anyway)....fuck the other two douchebags that don't have a stupid invented name.....fuck the flop head motherfucking faggots that listened to this crap in the 80s and made them into more than a group of useless fucking wankers.

Holy shit....why are we even talking about these fucking pricks? Bono needs a lobotomy!

Forget his music. The most upsetting thing is Bono got chunky and shaved his gorgeous hair. What happened to his hotness?

I don't care for the first single much at all on their CD; yet, it translates great energywise on stage in concert from what I've read.

Every time I see Bono, he looks like he's in dire need of hygiene lessons! Then again, many women thought Perry was hot and the dude was a homely looking fuck who could sing his ass off!

Oh for fucks sake...he looked like a fucking hobit in the early 80s. He was never hot.

He's a fucking whining little cvnt-mouth. Never liked him or the grossly overrated so-called guitarist that joined him in the category of stupid fucking names.

Holy shit...what a fucking waste....In another time, Bono's head would have decorated London bridge care of an overbearing English king. Seriously. A full blown bag of political hot wind with nothing to support it except shitty music.

Why is this even a topic here? I thought melodicrock.com was reserved for artists that didn't suck 12"+ cock.

 Well - he was apparently a good friend to the man in my avatar (even finished his last song for him, and a great one it was - see Current Favorite Songs thread) so he does have some redeeming qualities  .

He was sexy until sometime around 2003 or later and lost it. As long as he had great hair, he could pull it off.
