Most Dangerous Cities In America

Of course Detroit always no. 1 on the list, because of high crime rate, unemployment and home foreclosure in the nation. But I'm surprised with other cities on the list, like Charleston, SC and Philadelphia. I've been to these cities and I thought they're awesome and pretty safe cities. I was surpised Los Angeles or Chicago did not make on the list. But I guess wherever you are in the face of the earth, there's really no such thing as safe place.

1. Detroit, MI
2. Memphis, TN
3. Miami, FL
4. Las Vegas, NV
5. Stockton, CA
6. Orlando, FL
7. Little Rock, AR.
8. Charleston, SC
9. Nashville, TN.
10. Baltimore, MD
11. New Orleans, LA
12. Baton Rouge, LA
13. West Palm Beach, FL
14. Charlotte, NC
15. Philadelphia, PA

I know Orlando hates being in the top 10 every year now. The home of "DISNEY WORLD" should never be the 6th most dangerous city, right?? I really don't feel like I am cowering in my home scared to go out at night, but there are places around Orlando that I would be. I think most cities have places like that though. But then this is based on home foreclosures too, and this area went SKY HIGH in home prices a few years back and the bubble burst, and now it's LOW again and its caused people a lot of problems. We have foreclosures all over the place. And I'm sure our unemployment rates are pretty high here too.

It always shocks me to read this. Though, there's very high crime rates in certain pocket areas. When I left here and moved to Atlanta I hated to watch the news b/c of the high crime rate stories, murders, etc, and now Orlando news has so much of the same. Sad. But I don't feel it in the outlying city I live in only 15 to 20 minutes from downtown and I don't feel or see it working downtown.

Yeah, I live about 15 minutes from downtown too in a suburb city, so I guess you don't feel it as much. Hey, maybe you live next door

Me and my family went to Orlando in 2006 (of course to see Disney World). I love the place especially in Kissimee and surrounding areas. We tried to drove around Downtown area and just curious what the downtown Orlando looks like. We went there on a weekday around 6 or 7 pm and I was expecting a lot of people walking around downtown like L.A. or NY. Jesus Christ, the place was a ghost town and empty, and it was so scary just to drive around. We quickly left the area and decided to stay in Kissimee, that place is horrible.

Actual downtown Orlando is not horrible. There are some areas near it you wouldn't want to accidentally drive into, but that's true of all cities. Downtown here only generally had night life on Friday and Saturday nights. I really never venture to Kissimmee. It's too far for me and too rural. And TOO MANY TOURISTS

Well, downtown on weekends and Thursday nights it's packed, and even now a few blocks away from main streets of Orlando are great restaurants busy on weekdays in the last several years. It's become very trendy in the historic district downtown. Kissimme in the tourist district where many people stay who are visiting Disney has a high crime rate.

That's true. Anywhere there are tourists there are crimes. Easy targets!

Disney World is MUCH better than Disneyland, IMO. Plus, entertainment parks are close to each other and very accessible to tourist. I love Orlando but it rains a lot and too much thunder and lightning.

Oh, I love Disney World. We used to get annual passes when the kids were littler and there are nice places to stay around there and everything. Kissimmee isn't actually Disney world though. It's a city south of there and it's kind of a tourist trap to those of us who live here! All of 192 is. We kinda try to avoid the tourist areas as much as possible

And if you want to avoid the rain, late fall, winter and early spring are the BEST times to travel here!! PERFECT weather! I don't know how people can do all those theme parks with the humidity and rain!! We hardly ever have gone to the parks in the summer.

Yeah, we stayed at Holiday Inn in Kissimee. And from the hotel they have a shuttle bus going to the theme parks. We went there in July and I guess it was a rainy season that time around. One time it rain so hard and the sun came up after a few hours . I think that were the humidity starts to kick in.

From Orlando we drove to Miami Beach and stayed there overnight, then drove to the Florida Keys. Miami is very much similar to Los Angeles lifestyle, freeways and night time activities. But we went to one beach in Miami Beach where I was surpised to see some women were topless  8) Florida Keys is awesome as well. We went to this southernmost point where you can see Cuba from there with your naked eyes.

Oakland, CA is probably safer as far as violent crimes, try cities like South Central L.A. or East L.A. This is where the night stalker Richard Ramirez was caught.

True, but Richard Ramirez was just implicated on the death of a 9 year old Asian girl he had killed up in San Francisco in I think June of 1984. So even though they are catching them in South Central L.A. or East L.A., that doesn't mean they aren't going other places to kill also.

From wiki:

On October 22, 2009, San Francisco Police announced that Ramirez had been linked to the 1984 death of 9-year-old Mei Leung.[8] Homicide detective Holly Pera submitted DNA evidence from the crime to CODIS, which yielded a cold hit to Ramirez's DNA profile.[8] At the time of Mei Leung's death, Ramirez had stayed at two different neighborhood hotels.[8]

Ramirez was nabbed in East L.A while visiting his brother. He was mugged by these angry Mexicans when he was recognized by some bystanders. If the cops didn't come on time he probably been beaten to death by these Mexican thugs. He's been in death row for sometime now, and just wondering what taking so long to put this schizo to a death chamber. I know Charles Manson was reduced his sentenced from death to life imprisonment., but this wacko needs to be put in death chamber too.

As for the cities, it's just like anything else - you just have to know to stay out of certain areas and not turn down certain one way streets. I'm a BIT surprised Cleveland isn't on the list to be honest.

I will say, Detroit is by far the scariest place I've been. Cleveland's bad parts are scary, but they don't seem to be as dense or expansive as Detroit's scary parts. I say that fully admitting I'm no expert on Detroit... but I have been there enough to make at least somewhat of a judgment.

Akron, OH is another very scary place to be at night. It's not anywhere near the size of these other cities, but I'll bet it's just as dangerous relatively speaking. I was there for Todd Rundgren's show a couple months ago and I had backstage passes, it was downright fuckin scary walkin to my car parked on the street a good distance from the venue. I didn't have my gun on me either...

Talking about serial killer, this guy, John Muhammad, definitely needs to be executed, he's the Beltway Sniper. I heard he'll be put to death 2 weeks from now. If you remember this guy terrorized the Northern Virginia-Maryland area. He did his killing spree together with this kid inside the car, bore 2 holes at the trunk to make way for his rifle and the other for the scope, and just shooting randomly. My brother and his family who lives in Northern Virginia were so scared while this guy terrorized the city.

Crime and death row is a reall problem right now. On a good note, in Virginia they seem to be gearing up for the execution of the mastermind in the D.C. Sniper case. Apparently they're prepping to move this guy out next month. I'm not sure how it all works but it is obvious that sometimes the process goes fast and other times it doesn't.

Wonderfull. Really, what will that guy do after getting out of prison in 2020? I'm curious if society will have changed so much by then that he will fit right in perfectly.

I know, how hard do you think for the government to put these wackos on death chambers. First, they're wasting too much taxpayers money to feed these criminals, and second how long would the family members of the victims will suffer. Perhaps, these criminals outlived some immediate family member of the victims while waiting on death row before they see them on death chambers.

Sometimes I really believed they have the right justice system in death penalty let say in China or in the middle east, when the criminal found guilty, they put them to death right away.

At the rate this society and this country is heading towards depravity, nonchalance, violence, and irresponsibility, I wouldn't be surprised.
