All I can say is I have never heard of any skin rejuvenation technique causing your ears to be white also. To include his ears in the process seems pretty on purpose he lightened his skin to me and just accidently overdid it. Just sayin . . . . . .

He looks like someone ran a cheese grater over his face and left mozzarella chunks in it.

Steroids are bad, mmmkay?

I doubt he has what MJ had though. That doesn't look like vitiligo to me. If it is, he's using covering makeup like MJ had to. But he's a sports guy... and not so much a "diva" like MJ - meaning only I would figure he's care less about hiding it... so I don't think it's the same thing as MJ dealt with.

Sammy is not fine. He was on ESPN PTI last night-they were discussing this same topic and it was live footage of him and his wife. Sammy is white.

He looks like a zombie. Night of the living dead, hell, he looks WORSE than Michael if in fact he does have the same disease. I've read a couple articles on this and what is alarming is the fact that someone close to him reported that "he was always concerned about his looks, and uses face moisturizers nightly" and "He is going through a rejuvenation process to the skin" and "This has always been done, women get the procedure all the time. This was done because he played so many years of baseball out in the sun."

That last sentence made me laugh. He feels the need to have a complete laser rub down to his body to make his skin to appear lighter because of playing baseball IN THE SUN?! That is the worst excuse for any individual I've ever heard. He either had vitiligo (which is said that steroids can be the cause of it), or he bleached his skin to appear lighter, just like some say Michael did. Also, if you look, it looks like the dude had a face lift and a full lip surgery. What a freak looking ugly bastard.

Wife's hot, though.

I hate hearing that, ticks me off.

Here is what people never seem to understand. You can't "bleach" skin.

I don't know what Sammy's deal is... but with Michael and others like him who have vitiligo, skin lightening is necessary. There are two types of treatment for vitiligo. In severe cases, like MJ, the pigment dies fast, so they purposely destroy what pigment is left, basically they advance the condition on purpose to even it out, both with internal and topical meds. One of these things is hydroquinone, which is a chemical that is found to have skin-lightening (not bleaching) properties. You find that in over the counter scar-treatments, etc.

The other way to treat it, if it is less severe and shows slower progression, is to go the other way with different drugs and slow down and try to stop the pigment destruction.

There is also hyperpigmentation, also treated with topical lighteners like hydroquinone, etc. This sounds like it might be closer to what is possibly going on with Sammy (if anything). Personally I think it's just a screwy overexposed photo... but whatever... Anyway...

"Hyperpigmentation may be caused by sun damage, inflammation, or other skin injuries... People with darker Asian, Mediterranean or African skin tones are also more prone to hyperpigmentation, especially if they have excess sun exposure."

(yeah I know he isn't African or Mediterranean... that isn't why I pasted that)

Considering his wife in the photo looks darker than him, and I don't think she's black.

The bigger question is what is he doing to his lips? They're darker. Lipstick maybe.

That's not another pic - it's the same link.

This is the only picture that looks this way.

Crummy overexposure is my diagnosis until I see more evidence. I looked.
NO other pics I saw look this way.

So I guess he's also wearing lenses to make his eyes look hazel then?

An overexposed photo wouldn't just make his skin look brighter....it would make every color in the photo different. That is not the case.

I agree that it's not solely the photo's properties. The skin rejuve treatments play into this in a big way, I'm just saying it's probably not this drastic looking in real life, as you can tell from his eyes the harsh lighting is making his skin look worse than it actually does.

It's not vitiligo. Vitiligo causes splotching that can only be covered with stage make up. And Sammy's not wearing make up.

Dude can't get a chemical peel without causing so much speculation. Question to anyone... what does it matter anyway?

Google images: "overexposed photo"

Hair still dark... clothing light in color anyway but still normal color...
I bet she's a lot blacker than this photo makes her look.

There's a difference between overexposed ("washed out") and "blown out"

This is blown out:

I worked in a photolab/imaging lab. Seen this plenty.

MAYBE it's something else... not discounting that. But I'll need more than ONE picture.

Say he does. Say he's lying about the rejuve treatments. Say he does have a genetic skin disease and he's using corticosteroids to treat it.

Why is that nutty shit, John? And furthermore, why does anyone care? Are you guys making fun of him for having a disease? Or are you making fun of him for having skin treatments? Is it funny to you? Is this the grown-up version of making fun of kids with "pizza face"?

Or if he's purposefully treating his skin with something causing it to depigment, which isn't the case as depigmentation is never uniform and gradual. Anyone here ever go lay out in the sun during the summer and get a little tan? This is different how?

I'm just curious.

It is no different than MJ getting made fun of since '85(ish) for something people didn't understand.
Don't undertand it, or it's different from what you think should be normal? Make fun of it!

Hey... since we don't understand what exactly is up with Sammy, shouldn't we be saying "God made Sammy white"?
That's what we do when we don't understand things, right? :?:

Ooops wrong thread.

It looks to me like a really good Mary Kay beautician got ahold of him. I use Mary Kay Ivory 100 and it does the same flawless finish. Crazy Deb?

Yeah, but most people don't know he started developing it in the 70's. They covered it up with dark stage makeup until the depigmented spots overtook the dark and then changed the treatment to kill the remaining pigment and started using lighter makeup. That's why to the public at large his change was "weird" and he must've been bathing in clorox. But I guess it just makes people feel better to call something abnormal to them "wacko" and "weird" and make up the story as they go. That's all I'm going to say about Mike, though.
