Just got in the new Winger album Karma along with Europe's Last Look At Eden. Haven't really listened to the Europe disc yet but have been diggin' on Winger -- HELLS YEAH!!!!

Favorite song so far is track 5, "Pull Me Under". KIP RULES!!! Listen to it here:

http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... d=13895343

Some of the tracks are mislabeled -- 5. "Supernova" is actually "Pull Me Under".

You know what's comin' next, Deb...

Kip Winger is STILL the most savage animal in the jungle. He'll stalk you like prey, then reel you in for the kill, all in the space of one song. Once you gaze into his crystal blue eyes, it's too late!

That's also one of my all-time favorites from Pull -- excellent song.

Notice the artistic license with the lyrics in the first line... haha! Only Kip Winger or Michael Jackson could get away with that.

I also can't think of anyone I'd rather have in the trenches with me during a firefight deep into enemy territory. Anyone who kicks that much ass, I'd trust with my life. I wonder how many weapons he owns?

C'mon dude. There are enough fags around LR already.
Seeing you on your knees for Pineda in the Manilla dvd is already alarming.
Now this?

We live in different neighborhoods I guess.

If you've heard this album and think there is anything gay about it, your rock compass needs to be recalibrated.

LOL, hey now that Burrn cover is nice. And well, that top pic of hunk of the month is just plain funny, no? These guys probably cringe when they look back at some of their 80s glam shots.

Probably so, and I know you all get my shtick with some of these bands. But just in case, for the uninitiated -- there's something in common between Dokken, Winger, and Europe to me. All three bands had world-class talent and wrote incredible music but got unfairly lumped into the 80's Hairband cliche, never really getting the credit they deserved. And each band has written some of their most mature and strongest material since being out of the spotlight and away from heavy-handed label influences. So I talk about them because their music deserves recognition, and toss up the old photos for a laugh and also to irritate those people who would never give them a chance no matter how good the music was.

Speaking of mature songwriting, the first Winger track "Deal With The Devil" has some truly thought-provoking (and Motley) lyrics -- "Bottles of booze, and girls with tatoos, I made a deal with the devil!"

I just ran across this article from May 2009:

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has revealed that 80s "Hair Metal" singer Kip Winger from the band Winger will be featured in a starring role in the upcoming, as-yet-unnamed "prequel" to his smash hit film "Pulp Fiction." Winger will reprise the role made famous in the original film by John Travolta, "Vinnie Vega."

When asked about the role, Winger enthusiastically replied "I 'm looking forward to reconnecting with my fans in a big way. Even though I'm in the movie, I'm a fan of Quentin just like everyone else. I'm not at liberty to discuss the script but I can tell you that people who enjoyed the first film don't know the whole story...but they will."

Filming is scheduled to begin in late August.

I'd only popped it in for 3-4 songs before, and just did the same last night. I'll start listening to it fully later today or over the weekend. Right now, it's not grabbing me nearly as quickly as the past two albums did, but I'm betting it will grow on me with a few proper spins. What do you think of it?

Ok, just got Winger, Wet, Lynch Mob and the new Jorn. Just listened to entire Winger album and I think it is the best they've ever done. Goes from song to song with each song being high quality. Really great stuff. I always knew they could put one out like this and have been waiting for it. Thumbs up!

Couldn't find any other updates after this and am not sure the project is still a go. Sounds like QT's also wanting to do a prequel to "Inglorious Basterds", so maybe it got delayed. Not casting Kip Winger in a movie is a tremendously huge mistake for him, because normally I can't stand Tarantino. He's like the geek who got beat up in school who suddenly got some money and attention and let it all go to his head. Saw him spitting a huge loogie at some reporter he didn't like at a freakin' red carpet event and lost all respect for him. Robert Rodriquez is the STUFF though!!!

Some of the new Winger disc is still growing on me -- it would take a whole lot more to derail Pull in my book. I have W.E.T. on order and think it's INCREDIBLY good. Haven't listened to the new Lynch Mob yet. Let me know how you like it, please.
