Fla. man arrested for calling 911, asking for sex


TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Florida police say a man arrested for repeatedly calling 911 looking for sex claimed it was the only number he could dial after running out of cell phone minutes. Tampa police said 29-year-old Joshua Basso made sexual comments to the 911 dispatcher and asked if he could come to her house. Investigators say she hung up, but he called back four more times.

He was arrested about 15 minutes later at his home late Wednesday and charged with making a false 911 call. Basso reportedly told officers that he didn't think he would get in trouble for calling 911.

Tampa jail records show Basso is being held without bond but don't indicate whether he has an attorney. He is listed as unemployed with arrests for theft and other crimes dating back to 2001.

We have SO many freaks and news always coming out of Florida to make us proud!!! What's one more!!!

I was in the eye dr waiting room with a woman and national cable news was on, and 3 stories in a row were bad news stories ALL in Florida. And I thought in my head, WHY is it always Florida!! And the woman waiting with me asked me "did you ever notice these stories are always Florida. How embarrassing"

I know!! too funny! Having a cop husband with a life motto of "people are stupid" , his answer to every question of "why", I've heard a LOT of dumb things! Amazing stories of stupidity just from my little town

Good ol Florida. I was once in a divorce depo and the young guy looked like a six-foot-three skinny Opie from Mayberry, and the wife looked very wholesome. The depo was about their swinging with other couples, and they attached all kinds of local magazines for swingers and photos of Central Florida couples, some offering their wives to other men or men showing off their "assets" to entice other couples. Some of the grossest photos I've ever seen, especially the group sex photos with saggy boobs and beer guts of like four couples all over each other on a mattress on a floor in all their glory. So let me just say most couples who swing are not Playboy and GQ attractive and are probably your nextdoor neighbors who go the the PTA. I was so afraid I would get in a car accident on the way back to the office and people would think those were my materials.

He should know better than to call 911 for police phone sex. Sheesh! Any idiot would know to call the non-emergency number.
