I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Crossfade, but they were a national touring act that sold a LOT of albums about 4 or 5 years ago. For those of you that HAVE heard of them... They're from here in Columbia S.C. They recorded their hit album right here in Cola, and they had an unusual formula... they had a lead singer/guitarist, but they also switched lead vocals constantly throughout thier songs. They had Tony Byroads on vocals for the first album, and it was a huge hit. They had three singles off the 1st album that did very well.
Well Tony left in 2005 (if memory serves me correctly), and he came back to Columbia after a 2 year tour with the band. I got a phone call from a local studio here soon after, and they asked me if I would come down and meet Tony. I went to the studio (which I had done some work in before) and spent a couple of hours with Tony and his wife Corissa. He came out to my house a couple of times to work on this song he had written called "Left Behind". It was a pretty damn cool song!
He initially wanted me to help him do a bunch of backing vocals, but the song just didn't call for it. I ended up helping him figure out the vocals, some of the arrangement, and I recorded a bunch of backing string and cello parts. They ended up WAY back in the mix, but it just sounded better that way. I also helped with the mixing of the song. As soon as we finished it, he was interviewed on the hard rock station here in Columbia, and they played the song. They were immediately swamped with over 500 calls to hear the song again, but since he didn't have a label... they couldn't play it again.

Anyways, I just stumbled on his myspace page tonight, and saw that he has the song on there. It was cool hearing it after all this time, and I thought some of you might like to hear it. It's still the same version O worked on. His myspace page is
http://www.myspace.com/tonybyroads and the song is "Left Behind". Let me know what you think!
