Ford once again proves that American car industry lives. Not only did the Ford Fusion get the Motor Trend car of year title, but Ford also proved that quality and saftey are its priority, when 6 of their vehicles got the top safety honors, while their competitor, Toyota got zero !!!
Its time to think American & buy American :)

The Toyota Camry is the most American car you can buy in terms of where it's made, how many Americans work on it, etc etc.

Buy American is a hilarious catch phrase that isn't at all true.

I will stick with Foreign. Amazing luck with my cars never being in the shop, well, except a Nissan, compared to friends with American. And I'm rough on my cars and never do maintenance or even oil changes regularly enough.

Ok I was wrong in the soccer thread. THAT is the funniest sentence ever. The words "Ford" and "quality" should only hang out if the word "shitty" is invited to the party to stand in between them.

You're lucky you live in Florida

Oil changes/tire rotations etc. are essential around here when it's cold and snowy.

Nah, Ford is actually by far the best American car out there. They don't make a half-bad vehicle. I still wouldn't buy one, but you aren't buying a foregone disaster as you are when you buy some of the other brands.

Youre just a young pup ;)

Did you know that its american engineers , american workers and american parts that build these cars???
Last year people were saying " let the Big 3 go down, we dont need them,we can always buy our nissan and toyotas and hondas"......
well guess what,, the car industry is tha backbone of this countries economy.... you think if the american car industry would go under, it would only affect those who work for Ford, GM and Chrysler??? Wrong,,, it would result in a chain reaction, closing down 1000s of factories of suppliers, and millions of jobs lost....... THEN , with us DEPENDING on FOREIGN CARS, youd be amaze how much theyd jack up their prices.... You think the oil countries are raping us now, wait till we have to depend on Japan for cars,,,,,

Well since you havent owned a Ford the last 5 years, you really dont know much about the amazing quality of their products, so its ok for you to find some humor in it, stevew2 jr ;)

The saftey tests speak for themselves. combined with the lowest recall ratio, this puts Ford above the competition :)

No, trust me, I understand how important the car industry is to our economy. Think about the way all walks of commerce would be affected... even the sports/entertainment industries would be severely adversely effected.

But, those shit companies weren't competing. Hopefully they've learned their lesson and are making better cars now. As for me, $14-18 grand is a lot of money for me to personally find out whether or not they have learned their lesson.

And like I said, companies like Toyota and Nissan are just as essential to a healthy economy here in America as GM and all them fuckers are.

Absolutely, The existence of Toyota and other foreign car makers are essential in this country. Thats what has pushed Ford to be more competitive and work hard on QUALITY...... something they didnt do 10 years ago.

Popular opinion indicates that things have indeed changed. It's not impossible. Remember, people used to laugh at people that owned Toyotas back in the day too. Things can change. I want them all to compete again, so hopefully these other clowns can follow Ford's lead.

No it doesn't. It makes me a person who has witnessed nothing but bad experiences with a certain product and is therefore extremely hesitant about it... if you buy 6 boxes of Captain Crunch and there's a huge bug inside each one, you gonna keep buying it, no matter how much someone else tells you how awesome it is?

The last car I bought was an '02, so no, I fully admit I don't know what Ford has been up to in the last 5 years. And I don't really care. I have other brands I'd prefer to consider that have a longer reputation of quality than 5 years.

I have a 98 Ford Taurus that has been nothing but good to us. I think American cars get a bad rap. They are way more affordable and they have great safety standards, so I don't have a problem buying American.

And that's a totally fair position to have. I stopped buying PCs 5 years ago. I'm not about to go out and buy a top of the line PC just because every one tells me Windows 7 is so much better and more stable now.

Agreed, with the exception of Chrysler which has has issues for a long time on quality, GM is actually making some really nice, quality products right now too, and has for a while. As is Ford. Their biggest problem was mismanagement and focusing too much on SUVs for years and not staying focused on the future. Competition is good, and Honda, Toyota, Nissan, all need to be in the mix. But, because of the stigma of about 10 bad years, mostly late 80's early 90's, American car companies biggest hurdle is battling people's perceptions. My last 4 vehicles have been GM products... 2-Camaros, 1-Trailblazer, 1-Impala, and never have had an issue with any of them.
