Even if someone offered me a free Mac, I wouldn't take it. A PC is like legos- you can do anything with it, and customize it, change it. A Mac is more like an action figure- you can still do a lot with it, but ultimately you have to buy a new one if you want to do anything new.

Secondly, if you set your security settings high enough and are careful, you'll never get a virus on a PC.

The real argument is what is better Windows or OS X as that is the only difference between them the operating system and ill take windows any day.

If you prefer something that is all built in one and made to work really well together by itself and nothing else so it runs smoother without conflicts or problems from outside sources, then a Mac is better. The downside is you are restricted to using your computer only how Apple has made it to work.

If you prefer the freedom to customize your system to do whatever you want it to do and however you want it to, then a PC is better.

Of course, that means you run a bigger risk of things going wrong with your computer, but if you know enough how to tweak and hack your machine, you should have enough initiative on how to fix any problems too.

And one other thing: The OS kernal is Debian based, which is open source unix code. They used to have their own OS that the programmers at apple wrote until they came out with OS X. Macs are less susceptable to viruses, but there have been a couuple viruses that infect Macs. The only reason I would get a Mac is if I did a lot of Graphic design or video stuff, or if I wanted to act like a pompus asshole and think I'm better than everyone

I use Macs and won't be goin back to PC. If you like PCs, fine by me. I just don't need to deal with the crap I dealt with in the 15 years I used them.

I don't do any gaming and I do a lot of fuckin around with music recording and media, so Mac all the way for me.

Plus the graphics. Sorry, I don't need to hijack Russia, so I don't need a PC. LOL... and I love being a pompus ass because my computer actually works. My Mac is pretty damn customized, actually. I don't understand how you can't tweak it. You actually have to PAY for it. But it is possible. :P

Exactly. The honeymoon period on a PC is very short.

The six month period you speak of is when components in a computer become obsolete. If you take care of your system. i.e. don't download every fucking program known to man, have sufficient RAM, a big enough hard drive, and don't surf lame-ass websites like facebook, myspace, twitter, and any of a thousand websites hackers choose because of the webtraffic - you should be just fine.....Oh, and get a decent virus program that is not named Norton.
