Does anyone else have any info on this? Praying he's alright, but it's been a couple of days. I would venture to say it's serious.

I would imagine the lack of news is not a good sign... either means (1) he's really sick and they don't know what's wrong with him; or (2) he's really sick and can't be treated for whatever's wrong with him, even if they do know what it is.

No word on his Myspace or from Wendy Dio, so far.

That may not necessarily be bad news, though. We'll just have to wait and see. Keep the faith!

As you can see from my Avatar, I think Dio RULES! One of the greatest voices in rock history. Hope he is OK. He IS getting old though. Things start catching up with you about that age.

Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.

He's lucky to have found it early. From what (little) I know about it, it's almost asymptomatic at the beginning - very few signs that can easily be attributed to minor issues. Hopefully the treatment will be succesful for him.

Yes....but really hard to treat once advanced.....let's hope it was really early.

Wow, thanks for the update. That totally sucks  That is one of those cancers that is a really hard one to fight. Mayo Clinic is amazing, hopefully they will be able to kick the shit out of it right away. He is in for a rough ride

Horns up for many good wishes\m/ Hopefully he will be back home and cancer free soon.

Fucking cancer.... my mom just got diagnosed with lung cancer. She probably only has a few months to live. She smoked all her life so we knew it could be an issue someday. But her mom smoked all her life and she made it until 93 without ever getting cancer. My mom's only 65. It's a bummer all the chemo they put people through to maybe get a few months. With lung cancer it's a 40% survival rate within one year of getting a diagnosis, and the five year survival rate is less than 10%.

:(

Sorry to hear this. My dad is 76 and smoked heavily all his life. He has had a bypass, plugged arteries in his legs which caused him to lose 4 toes and now he has a plugged neck artery that they can't operate on because he has a form of pre Leukemia. I guess it's time to prepare for the worst. Fucking smoking. He never stopped smoking and is still at it even after all this.

I'm "borrowing" this from another site/forum:

Some uplifting news from Eddie Trunk.

"11/25/09: Just hung up the phone with both Wendy Dio and Ronnie James Dio himself. Obviously the news was just released about Ronnie having stomach cancer. I was aware of this a number of days ago but did not say anything public until Ronnie's camp was ready to release the news. As I have said in the past, Ronnie has always been one of my closest friends and biggest supporters over the many years we have worked together doing various things. We have a friendship far beyond just music and he being a musician and me being a host. So I have been in a knot over this news when I was first told about it around a week ago. The results of the many tests he has had were made known yesterday, so now he knows exactly what he is dealing with and will soon find out the course of action. The GREAT news is that it did not spread and is in an early stage! I just hung up with him and he sounded great. The usual RJD, totally commited to "killing the dragon", and he will!. He is not in pain, sounded great, and was ready to do what he has to do and get back on stage and sing like only he can! It was great to have spent about 20 minutes on the phone with him and hear how positive he was and thankful for all the support from his many fans. He's already made a few changes to his diet that he said has helped him feel great and admitted his days of having a few drinks are mostl likely behind him. I will share what I can when I can, but know Ronnie is ready to fight and win, and anyone who knows the man knows he will succeed! Lets all continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers going forward for a speedy recovery. Yes Ronnie is a great singer and icon for the music we love, but he is an even better person and I know he will beat this!"

Latest Update - Ronnie Aces 1st Chemo Treatment with Flying Colors
Current mood: thankful
Here is an update from Wendy Dio on Ronnie's battle with stomach cancer:

Well, it has been a very exhausting month – after all the neverending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and of course MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well.

I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.

Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans - we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win. Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers.
