Just saw this this morning and thought I'd share it with you Nightmare on Elmstreet fans. He looks MUCH different than the Robert Englund version, and I'm up in the air on this one. :? I'll reserve judgement on it until I see more about the film, but I really hope they don't butcher (pun intended! ) this film. Let me know what you think...

Give this flick a chance folks. Its gonna be decent. I like that they are going back to Freddys origin. And Jackie Earle Haley will do a FINE job with Freddy, may even make him scary again.

I think I was expecting a picture of the actor in the makeup. That's an action figure.

If that's close enough to what it looks like, then I don't know. I mean it isn't only about the makeup, of course... I'm holding out for the movie. Being the all time Freddy fan, I just have to see it for myself and ignore all the pictures and reviews.

Doesn't matter what the makeup looks like - they kept changing Robert Englund's makeup every movie anyway. As long as this is an honest attempt at scaring me senseless, I'll be pleased. I don't want to hear any of that "Welcome to wonderland, Alice" shit. By the time that series ended with that awful piece of crap, Freddy vs. Jason, I was more afraid of my handbag than of Freddy Krueger.

Guys, it's an action figure! Come on, judgment is meant to be made but I'm quite sure that they aren't going to drop the ball with Krueger. Haley isn't meant to be Englund and I like the new direction. He seems more interesting in my opinion as far as script and image is concerned. I won't pass further judgement until I walk out of the theater when it comes out in 10.

Haley was nominated for an Academy Award a few years back with the film "Little Children".

Small movie, but I heard very good things about the performances.

As for the "makeup", it has been reported in the past that there will also be an element of CGI with the makeup so this is not likely an accurate representation of what Freddy will look like. (At least I hope not.) Still, I find the idea of portraying Freddy in a more realistic manner, and possibly more of a victim, quite intriguing. It is going to be difficult to win people over from Robert Englund's portrayal of this horror icon but I think it can be done...

Nobody will care aside from a few horror geeks.
Look at the unknown (and imo miscast) Daniel Craig coming from practically nowhere to replace Pierce Brosnan - and Brosnan was the most popular Bond since Connery. Throw enough promotion dollars at something, and audiences will be there regardless.

It still depends on the material...the end result. Promotion alone won't do it.
