Now Hiring: Florida State

Postby Enigma869 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 11:17 am

Well, they're not really hiring as they've already hired Bowden's replacement. Looks like JoePa is the only ancient fuck still holding on.

Shame.
And FSU hasn't reached NEARLY the bowl-less depths Penn St hit for 4 years earlier this decade....

Difference here is Paterno through The Dark Years as we call it in PSUdom never lost the majority of alumni or boosters the way they turned on Bowden in Tallahassee.

The President of the university wanted Joe out but didn;t have the power against the majority of boosters/alumns.

In the state of Florida football is huge, especially college. You are expected to win championships-if you are not winning championships then you go away, its that simple.

LOL. All three teams cheat their asses off. Players are there for a stopover and lunch and free shoes. Bowden won two championships. The guy is a legend. When Urban Meyer gets to number 2 all time, let me know. I would laugh like Hell if he went to Notre Dame. It's the greatest job in college football, bar none. They can buy him out of Florida's contract 20 times over. Don't put it past Meyer to go, especially now that his QB lover has to leave to go play flanker in Tampa Bay or St Louis.

You want to see college football or football madness in general, go to the state of Texas. It dwarfs Florida, California, wherever for football fever.

Only problem with that theory is Urban has already stated no Notre Dame and his wife followed up with how happy she and the kids are in Florida.
How do they cheat? I cant speak for FSU or Miami but Ive never heard of a cheating scandal at UF so I dont know what you are talking about...and as close as my family are to that school I think we'd have heard something.
Sure, players stopover for lunch, maybe a cup of coffee..it sucks when you are rich with NFL talent in one state I guess. Who can blame them for using the exposure they get in the state of Florida to fulfill their dreams of playing in the NFL.
And one more for the flanker/Tebow thing...several teams are looking at Tebow for QB...yes, QB. Buffalo is one that just said they'd take him with a very early pick if still available.....Jacksonville has said they will take him, Miami, the list goes on and on....

Hey I love Timmy, but I am also a realistic. He isn't playing QB at the next level dude, at least not starting at QB. He may hold a clipboard and someday be an offensive coordinator. I love the way he is into the game itself. Much like Peyton manning. However, that shit UF runs doesn't play in Peoria much less Buffalo, Jacksonville or any other NFL town. Love to see him attempt a jump pass at the 4 yd line against Ray Lewis. He would be as flat as a decal.

He'll be there, so let's see if Buffalo is just blowing smoke. Miami isn't taking him. They already have one young and inexperienced QB on the roster. They don't need a second one.

After four years, Tebow still holds the ball below his waist when he gets ready to throw, he will be a turnover machine in the NFL if that doesn't get fixed. I wonder if his coaches at Florida tried to fix that but found him unable to adapt?

In the NFL he's a tight end or an HBack from the old Redskins system. Maybe even a fullback but not a qb. Any experiment w/ him under center will be an epic failure.

Agreed. And I blame ESPN not Tebow, who from all indications is an unbelievable kid.

Yeah. In fact, I'll amend my previous post. I hope he does ok for himself in the NFL, but he needs to struggle for a year or two to let the hoopla die down. Then it's ok if he goes on to do alright.

Actually as far as Texas dwarfing California and Florida?

California has produced more NFL football players than any other state.

Florida is #2 barely over Texas at #3

There are 24 Division 1 colleges in California.... 10 with Div1 football programs.

There are 21 Division 1 colleges in Texas.... 10 with Div1 football programs.

There are 13 Division 1 colleges in Florida.... 4 with Div1 football programs.

Graduation rates in California schools are higher than Texas and Florida.

California boasts 2 big time academic schools with Division 1 talent - a very difficult task.

Florida colleges with football programs have BY FAR the worst graduation rates of those three states - is it because people in Florida are more likely to be stupid or because they don't give a crap about academics at all?

Great stats, but that wasn't my point.

In Texas, High School football trumps NBA Mavericks, NHL Stars and Ranger Baseball. It's a fucking fever pitch sport in Texas.

Sorry if I didn't make a more streamlined post.

He's probly just coutning Stanford and Cal.

U$C? The collective IQ of that nappy-haired roster could cause a brownout. Sharp as bowling balls.

Doesn't UCLA have one of the best medical schools in the world? I think you can include that school with Cal and Stanford when it comes to Academics.

Perhaps, but I'm with JoePa on the USC thing. USC has never been known as a school with rigid academic standards. Obviously a school like Stanford is on a completely different level.

I'm with Dean on this one. It's not even debatable. You do realize that "Friday Night Lights" is all about high school football in Texas, right? There isn't a state on the planet who is half as nuts as Texas is when it comes to high school football. It's almost bizarre that they can turn out 25K people for a high school football game, when many high schools in other parts of the country have a problem drawing 500 people. Florida is a VERY strong state when it comes to college football in terms of the support their teams get, but a big part of it is that it's one of the absolute worst states in the union when it comes to pro sports. The teams all suck and so do the fans.

not sure how much the teams suck....lets digress:
Miami Heat-NBA Championship
Florida Marlins-2 World Series Titles
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-1 Super Bowl Title
Tampa Bay Rays-1 World Series appearance( 1 American League Champioship)
Miami Dolphins-Multiple Super BOwls and still the only perfect record in NFL history.
Orlando Magic-2 NBA Championship appearances(2 Eastern Conference Championships)
May wanna rethink that theory.
