What a jackass. Hopefully his team fines and suspends him.

Why should he be suspended? It was an accident.

It cost my team - The Rochester Americans - our starting goalie. Salak has been recalled.

Why should he be suspended? It was an accident.

He didn't accidentally swing his stick that viciously. It may have been an accident that he hit the goalie, but he needs to learn to control his emotions.

I'm actually with Starrider on this one. Swinging his stick the way he did clearly wasn't an "accident". He obviously didn't mean to take his own teammate out, but that's not really the point. Is driving your car drunk into a relative any less of a crime than driving it into a stranger? Dude seriously needs to control his stick!

Someone needs to tell this guy it isn't the sticks fault! Moron.

And you thought there would be a rift in the Steelers locker room?

No, I know, that's what I meant... hitting Vokoun was an accident. Definitely a stupid move getting angry and trying to hit the post. But I don't think he should be suspended for it.

He's not a moron. Anyone here ever play the game? This happens all the time. Frustration, frustration, frustration. He just fucked up, that's all. Goalies break their sticks all the time. This is a non issue.

Yes, I played the game and even broke a few sticks along the way. I just never gave one of my teammates a two hander across the coconut. At the end of the day, I certainly wasn't suggesting it was an "issue". That said, if he did that to an opponent, he would definitely be fined and suspended.

That would be like punishing the team double....losing 2 players.

True, if it were an opponent if would be a very differnt story, but in a case like that, you can easily say it was not an accident (whether it was or wasn't). When it's your own team that suffers from it, and one of your own teammates that is hurt, it's pretty clear that he didn't mean to do that. Absolutely it was a stupid thing to do, but he didn't intend to take out his own goalie, so maybe fine him for being careless... but no, not a suspension.

I played 2 years in the off season between football season to keep my legs fresh. You build MAJOR muscles in hockey than you would in any other sport and it helped me throughout, but you're right, it IS frustrating and hockey is violent, but breaking a stick and swinging it like a major leaguer in the vicinity of your goalie is two different things.
