Im so sick and tired of companies walking on eggshells when it comes to simply wish someone MERRY CHRISTMAS, worried about offending someone.
Dish Network is one company that not only did wish/dish people a Merry Christmas, but also didnt back down to apologize later and instead released a nice statement. Good for them !

I'm not saying other religions would be offended by it, but SOMEONE has fought it enough for it to come to this, and it wasnt' the Christians. Christmas is a Christian holiday. Anyone can celebrate it and call it what they want, but that's what it is. I can celebrate Kawanza and Hanukka all I want and have a great time, but they are still African/religious and Jewish celebrations. My kids are in public school and they HAVE to celebrate holidays in our county here. They don't call it a christmas party, it's a holiday party. And they have to learn about kawanza and hanukka. To make sure they are including other religious beliefs too. Do you think it's the Christians pushing that? Christmas has "CHRIST" in it and that IS the point.

I'm just SO tired of everyone having to worry about everything they say every minute of the day. You know what, if you don't celebrate Christmas, then just tune out the Merry Christmas messages. You know what? I'm not jewish. I don't flip out if a particular company or store or business chooses to post a Happy Hanukkah message. I just ignore it because it does not apply to me! How about this... are we going to one day be disallowed from expressing "happy 4th of july" because of the huge number of immigrants hanging around here and the fact that they might be offended? Same principle! No, they have their Cinco de Mayos and Pulaski days and whatever that Puerto Rican holiday is in June... and we leave them alone about it, and they leave us alone about the 4th of july, so how is this any different? I would guess it's mostly people without religion too. Although it depends on where you live too. In New York and New Jersey there are a lot of Jewish people. So a lot of the schools there recognize Jewish holidays as "days off" during the school year. Here, that does not happen. So the Jewish teachers fought and fought and now the kids in our public schools can not have off Easter week as their spring break anymore. And honestly, I don't think the Jewish teachers cared, but they wanted THEIR holidays to be calendar days off for school too. They didn't want to have to use vacation days for theirs. So then you get the slippery slope of who gets to have off for what, and if we do it for the Jewish teacher, then what about the Muslim teacher and so on..... So it became easier to just let NO ONE have anything I guess!

I think the people that are "against" Christmas are against it because the US isn't supposed to have an official religion but you wouldn't know it the way Christmas (and other Christian holidays) are handled. No other religious celebration in the US is a federal holiday.

I love Christmas, not so much the religious part, but the season of lights and trees and gifts. I definitely don't have a problem with people saying or celebrating Christmas, but I do see where the resentment comes from.
