Live from Daryl's House AGAIN

Postby Ehwmatt » Wed Dec 16, 2009 12:35 pm

Just gotta give plug to Live From Daryl (Hall's) House again... GB has posted this before. Here's a recent episode with one of my favorites, Todd Rundgren... just check out those harmonies on "Can We Still Be Friends" Chill-inducing.

Hey Matt - did you see my post in one of the other threads (the Haunting Melody one I think, even though it didn't belong there  ) - Todd and a bunch of others playing live with Burton. I'll look for the YT link again later, just in the middle of a cooking crisis right now.

Hm, I will look - is it from Ringo's All Starr Band they did together? if so I'm sure I've seen it before  I was raised on that shit, thanks to my dad.

In addition to his own recordings, Rundgren has produced albums for Halfnelson (first incarnation of Sparks), New York Dolls, Badfinger, Grand Funk Railroad, Hall & Oates, Ian and Sylvia (on their "Great Speckled Bird" album), Meat Loaf, Patti Smith, Shaun Cassidy, The Tubes, Tom Robinson Band, XTC, Bad Religion, Cheap Trick, The Hello People, Hiroshi Takano, Bourgeois Tagg, 12 Rods, The Pursuit of Happiness, The Psychedelic Furs, Steve Hillage, The Band, The American Dream, and many others. The troubled XTC sessions produced the album Skylarking, now considered a high point for band and producer despite its acrimonious origin. Rundgren's production of Meat Loaf's Bat out of Hell helped that album become one of the very top selling LPs released in the 1970s. The industry regard for Rundgren's production work has been a lofty one: Jim Steinman, with whom Rundgren worked on Bat Out of Hell, has said in interviews that "Todd Rundgren is a genius and I don't use that word a lot."[3]

In the summer of 2001, Rundgren joined artists such as Alan Parsons, The Who's John Entwistle, Heart's Ann Wilson and Ambrosia's David Pack for the successful "A Walk Down Abbey Road" tour, in which the musicians played their own hits alongside Beatles favorites.

Todd is god fucker.

Wait for Me was the chill-inducing song for me. But there were great harmonies on Can We Still Be Friends, true.

Pee Wee RULES. That guy is so hilarious. Pee Wee's Big Adventure is totally funny.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Thanks, I needed that...desperately! (Bad day.) Been meaning to keep checking back at Daryl's house and haven't gotten around to it for a long time...always sounds Soooo Good there & this one with TR is wonderful! One of the songs I love happens to be by TR and I never knew who it was until I saw this video on t.v. about 2 yrs. ago: "Hello, it's me": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y0JBWz_ ... re=related
(would it be hoping too much to one day see Steve Perry at Daryl's house? That would be perfect.)

Not yet. Sara Smile has been nominated for a Grammy this year from that very same performance so I'm expecting good things when I eventually watch it. I saw H&O at the a casino show in September and they were just as fresh as when I saw them at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby 20 odd years ago.

That'd be great... if SP does decide to do an album, this would be a perfect way for him to "tour" while avoiding the stress of moving on stage and having to worry about what shape his voice was in night to night... it'd keep the fans somewhat happy and he could at least promote new material a bit. He'd get to sing, wouldn't have to travel, the fans would finally get to hear/see some new SP performances... it's a win-win.

Daryl said they missed out on having Boz Scaggs on the show as they didn't know he was in town until was leaving, I hope they get him for a later episode, that would be epic.
