Surprised to see TSO with three albums on the chart. Also, Dark Side Of The Moon still going strong after three decades

I can't tell you how many requests I've had to play that stupid "Old Time Rock n Roll". I've had club owners give my band awards for NOT playing it. Ugh!

I think I see the problem.

Journey math is at work again.

One was a double disc set wasn't it? So if it sold 10 million units, that is actually 5 million actual albums. Seger's was one disc so even though his album isn't 10X Platinum, with 8 million sales or so, Billboard could see that as more individuals buying the CD.

I ran a poll here 'tween Bruce, Johnny Cougar and Bob. The heartland poll I guess you'd call it. Seger took it fairly handily.

Bruce's political stances (or just the fact that he's made any) cost him votes and Mellencamp hasn't risen above pop status.

Seger's flown under the radar so all people remember of him is the music.

Love that old time rock and roll!

Used to like Mellencamp. After "Lonesome Jubilee" I couldn't dig him anymore.

I remember seeing Cougar opening for Journey (along with Hagar, the Tubes, and Adams). People for the most part dug him, he had a couple of good sing along tunes.

speaking of sales I thought I heard this morning, that Susan Boyles record has sold 1.8 million copies already three weeks in... DAMN, she must be getting great word of mouth around the world regarding her songs.

Well okay but still hard to believe. I thought about a thread here naming best albums of the decade but frankly a decade is too long for me to remember all the albums that would deserve to be mentioned...and I didn't even think about the inclusion of about 75% of these top selling ones. I'm sure someone out there on MR is already coming up with "Best Albums of the Decade" right now anyway listing choices that will have me screaming at my computer :lol:
