Official Teacher Countdown, as of 2:00pm tomorrow school is out for the Christmas season and I am stoked! Two weeks no work and I can do as I please! I start the official holiday romp with Alice Cooper of course with the muppets........Schools out!
Tell us what your occupation is, if it isn't confidential with the CIA, and when your holiday play begins! Also, I would love recorded Christmas tunes from MR members, we all need to let off some steam and have some fun!

Amazingly, I don't work either Christmas or New Years so I have those 2 days off! Otherwise, it's just a regular couple of weeks. Hell, I was off a week after surgery in September and got no pay, no sick time, no disability but don't get me started on that!

I'm a contract administrator (fancier title than the actual job, lol) and a part-time grad student. It's been hectic so far, but I'm livin and lovin it. I could probably take a few more days, but in this economy, it's just not worth risking it... I'd rather err on the side of overworking. My family's all in town, so it's not like I won't see them. I really don't need to sit around and do nothing for two weeks, even though I'd love to

I get Christmas day and New Year's day because they both fall on Fridays. Otherwise, if it were on Thursday, I'd get the holiday and Friday. Oh well, I still get long weekends this year. : ) We usually cut out of here around noon on Christmas Eve.

How many managers did you have to blow to get
that deal?
I will probably get let out early on the 24th. Back on the 28th. Same the following week.
I love when Christmas and New Year's fall on a weekend.
I hate having to have Christmas and then go back the next day.

I used to be a teacher, and I really miss having the two-week break! I'm working for a company now where I get 9 vacation days a year. Bummer. I'm taking my last 3 days next week, and our office is closed Thursday and Friday. Of course I have big deadlines next week, so I'll be doing some work from home during my vacation.

I'm off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for Christmas week and New Years Eve/ new Years day. I'm a statistical analyst, as long as I can collect all of my data and present it when required, it doesn't really matter when I work.

Good mentality! My holiday is starting in about 10 minutes when the boss leaves, and won't be in all next week.
I have the office to myself for a full week starting in a few minutes, we're dead ass slow, and I'm about to freakin' crack.
I've had a shit-ass week that ain't getting any better. Tonight's plan... a glass of wine or three!!

We get let loose at 11:30 on Thursday. Off all day Friday as well. I do SAP and Access Data Reporting for an HR department, so it will be horribly quiet next week, as I'm sure all the people I run reports for are on vacation. Thank god for the internet.

My students had to clean desks, counters, floors, sinks, etc.........they made the mess, they have to clean up at end of semester. I bet a few of them are regretting leaving such a mess! LOL!

Boy my room looks so much better.

They actually had fun doing it. I played Christmas tunes and gave each of them a job to do. The room is clean and organized. Now I have my time till Jan. Yippie! I gave ribbons to the winners of my art show, and wished them all a Merry Christmas.

Work till 3 pm on Christmas Eve, don’t have to go back until Jan 11. I get 5 weeks paid vacation/year and always save some vacation days for around Christmas – depending on what day of the week Christmas falls on, it usually works out that I get a full 2 weeks off while only having to actually use about ½ that in vacation days! (I work in the banking industry, so we’re closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day – and if any of those days happen to fall on a weekend we’re also closed an extra day for those). In other words, I only need to use vacation days for days that I would normally be working.
