Terrorist attack thwarted

I'm sure you've all heard it or can easily find it, but what gets me the most is this passage

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., ranking GOP member of the House Homeland Security Committee, identified the suspect as Abdul Mudallad, a Nigerian. King said the flight began in Nigeria and went through Amsterdam en route to Detroit. There were 278 passengers aboard the Airbus 330. ....

The passenger was being questioned Friday evening. An intelligence source said the Nigerian passenger was being held and treated in an Ann Arbor, Mich., hospital.

And this Allah buttfucking, insane, murderous son of a bitch who was too stupid to pull off his own evil act deserves any kind of medical treatment or consideration, why again?

Give me a nice scimitar and one of those handy Flip Videos (I'm sure some1 here got one for Christmas) and I'll film me beheading him and send it back to Al-CamelCocksuckerJazeera. FUCK THESE TOWELHEAD CARPETRIDERS

Abdul Mudallad, 23, a Nigerian national whose name, he said, was in a database indicating "a significant terrorist connection" although it did not appear on a "no-fly" list.

It's just a reminder to never be complacent, especially when you're flying. I'm flying in a few days and you bet your ass I'll be extra alert.

Man you ain't kidding. My daughter flew to Atlanta today, and after I read all this shit, you have no idea how I shuddered. I flew off at the mouth, just messing with you, and now I'm not feeling the need to be so fun about it all.

It's just so disturbing to me that anyone could make it onto a plane with something on him/herself. Sneaking a bomb on through luggage or hiding it in the cargo hold Steven Seagal flick style is one thing, but with all the supposed security and scans, the fact that someone could have the weapon on his person is just downright disturbing.

Well, it came from a different country. I'd like to THINK that their security isn't like ours, but I KNOW that is just wishful thinking.

After reading this, I have the feeling that the US was already on alert before this even happened. Last Sunday when I flew out to Europe from LAX, the cars that were driving into the Intl. terminal were stopped and searched (IDs and trunk). That NEVER happened in all the 5 years I've been flying from LAX.
Maybe they were warned about the possibility of attacks during the holidays.

Still, I can't imagine how this guy got through the check point in Amsterdam with something strapped around his leg. European airports have a thorough screening ritual - passengers have to take their shoes off and aiport police officers do body searches on EACH passenger. I cannot remember boarding a plane to the US without being screened with an electronic wand AND then patted down my arms, shoulders, waist, legs, ankles and feet and even searched in my hair!
It just baffles me that this jerk could get away like that.
It's true though that I never flew out from the Netherlands, only Germany and France, but the screening procedures should be the same all over Europe.

The Schiphol airport admins should be buttfucked for this negligence.

I wondered if anyone knows the practices of European airports when flights arrive from other countries as a stop. I mean within the US, once a person has boarded a plane, if it stops in another city before it's destination, people who are continuing on stay on that plane without being rechecked. During the layover you never leave the plane. Is this maybe what happened? You would think a flight from Nigeria would have an extra screening process, but I wonder.

Talk about stupid terrorists. Pick a different destination than Detroit. Most of the miserable bastards on the plane probably would have been indifferent to being blown up.

I'm just grateful that on Christmas we didn't have a horrific disaster. And God bless this guy Schuringa -- without him things could have been alot worse.

I remember reading the first CNN news on this, that someone popped firecrackers onboard the plane. Now look what that turned into. Sheesh.

I don't worry about our security within our borders, but it's clear that internationally, improvement needs to happen. Not going through a second security in Amsterdam -- not acceptable if they are flying into the US. Now is that a city by city, country by country choice? Is it a choice by the airlines? I've only ever made one stop flying into Europe, so I'm less familiar. Maybe the dutch need to step it up a bit?

Having travelled abroad many, many times I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that The Untited States is near the bottom as far as security goes. I've always been impressed with European countries and the way the pull suspicious characters out of line and fucking grill them. The ACLU would be suing people left and right here. Fuck, the Euros will yank you out of line if you have a terrorist sounding name or even "look" suspicious (like a diaper on your head), put you in this cool little room and really quiz you. I've never seen anything like that in the U.S. Domestically, I still see lazy fucks that seem generally bothered to be at work.

Scary indeed!! We still cannot even enter our airport property without
having our vehicle completely inspected. Perhaps it's just the smaller
airports that still practice this safety measure, but it makes me feel safe.
Not to mention the strip down that takes place once inside...I don't understand
how these things can still happen!!

But what if the SAME airplane goes to the destination you are headed for. Like ours stopped in another city to let a few people off, and pick up a few people. Then we moved on to Orlando. Why would we have to get off the plane that is taking us the whole way? Southwest does this quite often on flights going to Dallas too. They stop in Houston first, and then Dallas, and you do not need to get off, since it's the SAME plane going to both places.

I thought this flight STARTED in Nigeria and the SAME PLANE landed in the Netherlands and took off from the Netherlands to Detroit. If it's the SAME PLANE doing all this, and they assume the security checks have been done, why would people need to leave the plane? Now from country to country, it seems they should be rechecked. But within the US, they do not. And I was asking what they do in Europe.

I really don't see how this guy switched planes if the same plane that left his country stopped in Europe and that same plane came here. I mean that kind of shows what you are saying is not true. A plane lands, some get off, some stay on, and then it goes on. Happens everyday.

This man must have known that in the Netherlands they would not have made him get off the plane.

I have NEVER had a car checked ever at any airport I have ever flown. Small or big. And security in MOST places, airports, theme parks, venues, etc.. is a joke to me. Feel good tactics that I feel very smart people could out smart pretty easily. There are always loopholes.

Very true, to the bolded and you've obviously never been to S'port!! The whole airport

Oh, I believe you! I've just flown a lot of airports though, and that's the first I ever heard of a car getting checked! That's what bugs me about US security though is how it varies SO much from city to city! It makes homeland security kind of a joke! I can't believe the differences in each airport when I fly. And even when I have cruised. Each port has their own way of checking people when they get back. For instance, Port canaveral is more thorough than the Port of Miami is. I mean why? They are all the same US customs. It makes no sense to me. But then what do I know. I'm not one of those smart ones

Oh, so he DID switch planes. That's what I wondered. The first article i read made it sound like it was a flight that went from Nigeria to Detroit, stopping in the Netherlands. Guess not then. Well then those are U.S. airlines, so what's the excuse there then? Shouldn't american based airlines be using American security measures? Hmmm. And I always thought things in europe were much tighter for much longer than here. Though I know nothing about the Netherlands and their security.

Another thing, here in the US, we DO NOT go through secondary security even when we DO switch planes. You don't leave the secure areas. What you had on you in the first city, is what you have on you when you leave the layover city. So I assume that in the Netherlands they just do the same, even on flights from other countries then?

I went through a secondary security check on my way to Cancun, although I cannot remember if it was in Dallas or Mexico?!?!?
It was a random thing (I must look suspicious). The girl wrote a number on the back of my boarding pass, I do remember thinking
that was odd. When I got to the gate they looked at the number and told me to step aside. I had to partially strip down and I was
put in a glass wind tunnel..don't ask because I still don't understand, but they were having a blast. I did cuss a lot, but there again
I had that false sense of security. Rick, are there glass wind tunnels in Dallas and what are their purpose?!?!
