Did 2009 Suck For You?

2009 was one of the worst years of my life. What about you?
Here's to hoping that 2010 will be one of the best!

Agree wholeheartedly. 2009 was crap for me. I spent half of the year jobless after graduating the top of my graduate class.
I don't have high hopes for 2010, however. The definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...financially, we still have the same morons in congress and in the white house. I don't expect things to get much better until long after they are thrown out on their ass....
but I'll be hopeful that I'm wrong.

Most of my issues had to do with the poor economy. I had to let go of my two employees and my office space in early 2009 after the economy crashed, and now I am working from home. Then my mom got lung cancer and has been going through hell ever since. Then our finished basement got two inches of water when our sump pump failed, and we had to rip out all the carpet (2,500 sq. ft.) and have it all replaced. Then just last week one of my front teeth broke off (due to a root canal when I was younger), and it's going to cost $3,300.00 for a bridge (until then I have a front tooth missing). That same week some idiot decided to change lanes on the highway when I was next to him and he rammed into my damn SUV - I almost lost control of it!
I am so glad 2009 is over!!!

Same here, at least the worst since the late 90's for me. I sure hope the economy gets better in 2010.

I’m beginning to think I'm the only one who did okay financially. I'm not living like Trump by no means, but I'm also not eating Ramen noodles so that's been a really nice change for me. 2009 was a mixed emotions year. Careerwise it’s been fine, but a lot of other stuff happened along the way. I ended one relationship.

Started a new relationship.

Moved.

Made friends.

Made enemy....that’s singular (
at least I think).

Gained 10 pounds.

Got engaged.

Made peace with my dad.

Had a lot of ear infection problems...
what was up with that?
All-in-all it was an okay year for me but still I'm looking towards the future.

Use this stuff or straight rubbing alcohol whenever you get water in your ear or it feels congested:
I swear by it because I have had ear infections before I started using it.

I used to get ear infections all the time until I started using this stuff. I do it at least once a month just out of precaution. I know this sounds nasty, but if you clean your ear with a Q-tip and it smells rank (due to buildup of moisture and bacteria), use the alcohol (or Swim-Ear, which is 99% rubbing alcohol) in the ear. You'll notice the smell goes away and doesn't come back for 3-4 weeks. Just pour 6-10 drops of the rubbing alcohol or Swim-Ear in your ear while laying on a pillow. Lay in that same position for 5 minutes or until you feel like it has reached your inner ear. Then turn your head on the other side and let it drain out into a tissue for about 5 minutes. The alcohol will dry up any water in the ear and kill any infectious bacteria hanging around. Works great for me!

Thanks for the info, V. Right now I got scripts for enough Vicodin & Percocet to set me up for future rehab ....

.... still, I'll keep what you said in mind if'en I ever run out of this stuff.

The latter half of 2008 and the first half of 2009 were the worst years of my life, bar none. I was just really depressed and stressed out of my mind for various reasons, and thus sort of isolated myself from everyone. The latter half of '09 was better, though, and I'm way better now. It was just one of those years, I guess. *shrug* I'm just glad it's over.

I feel the same. 2009 was OK. Could've been better, could've been worse. I have my health, a healthy and happy daughter a good job and a roof over my head....so things are good.
Lu where are you going to be moving to?

up near my sister katy. the north end of the central valley- turlock. not a big city like i'm used to, but certainly a better place for wyatt to grow up. there are farms and orchards and dirt roads

buying a house will become a reality as well. all in all a positive move. i'll be looking for a teaching position, keep your fingers crossed.

Going from the Third Street Promenade to The Turlock WalMart has got be a bit of Culture shock. Financially though, Your expenses are probably going to be cut in half, which is the big thing I guess.

The latter part of the decade has sucked for me i can't find a job if my life depended on it. Obviously no one cares about a high school diploma anymore. I admit though getting canned from the same job twice (for some total bs) doesn't help things either. I really hope this new decade will be better so i can FINNALLY get out of my folks house (i know it sounds pathetic).

Learn to want it bad enough. Believe in yourself and make a plan. Forget the person you used to be and become the person you want to be. Good luck!

Thanks, but I was born with a rectum hanging from my left ear..had to look at it for years in the mirror and, as they say, you see one you be one.

Got laid-off after 20+ years at my job.
Lost my brother to cancer.
2009 - what a crappy year.

I obtained my first teaching job, and the first art competition I entered a drawing in, I was selected. I cannot complain. How much worse off would I be without both blessings. Money is still tight, and I have to drive an hour and fifteen minutes to my job every day. And that is one way!

But with the present economy, and with so many needing work, I can only be grateful for these blessings. Maybe next year will be even brighter.
For those who have had nothing but misfortune this year, I will pray for things to soon look up for you, and those you love. I wish only great things for all of you next year.
