Forget that.

What I can't wait for is Game Change written by two political journalists on the behind the scenes, on both the Republican and Democratic side, of the candidates during the primaries, Edwards, Clinton, Palin, McCain, Obama, and post election, like the circumstances of Hillary accepting Secretary of State. It sounds beyond interesting. The knowledge by many of Edwards affair during his campaign. McCain planned to announce Lieberman as his VP pick, and at the last minute, when it was leaked out, the backlash by the Republican base was so strong that they hurriedly chose Sarah Palin, even though not knowing much about her, b/c they thought she would be a bold pick.

Once I get over my Dan Brown kick I'll probably start reading fantasy again.
I loved fantasy growing up, reading the obvious series (LOTR, Harry Potter) and also reading some DragonLance books, WarHammer, and way too much Brian Jacques.
Always got room for fantasy books in my heart.. may actually write some fantasy novels someday, as it's the funnest type of writing (to me at least).
Books?

Yeah, I ain't got the stomach for political reads.
SO SICK of that stuff. It's all you hear about anymore.
Had a B&N gift certificate to spend. I spent HOURS looking for a decent book yesterday and ended up with the new Stephen King and Jonathan Strange book. I just SO didn't want to read anything 'real'. Too much of that all over my tv.
Any book recommendations are cool with me!
Reading All the Pretty Horses right now. So far, it's okay. I don't like Cormac's writing style (no punctuation) and what a girly title for a book. Got it from my daughter.
Dan Brown- just couldn't get into him.

This book is more gossipy, underbelly stuff of all the candidates heading into the primaries and after. It's showing the public persona of all these candidates during the campaign but then at the same time behind the scenes what was unfolding and info during it that you weren't privy to or that you wouldn't expect, like it was suspected McCain's wife was having an affair and how it was handled, Palin's emotional meltdown after Couric's interview and also the preparation for the VP debate, which was a mess according to McCain's campaign advisor, who had to take over prepping her; a team working on Bill's affair gossip that might come up during Hillary's campaign and the ability to discount all but one serious affair, but it never surfaced during her campaign; and John Edwards' affair and his wife's other side to her personality no one saw. How the Democratic backers the Clintons thought they had were turning on her in the begnning to get Obama in the race. So very different in that respect.

Love ya Jana but ... dang, you could turn on the tube and hear all that same 'gossipy' stuff. I can't stand it any more.
I'm SO sick of:
TVgossip,realityshows,politics,politicians,religion,Fox,CNN,copmurderers,missingkids,
economicwoes,jobcuts,bankfraud,wallstreet,sportsfigureswhothinktheyactuallyfrigginmatter,
Oprah,Republicans,Democrats,Muslims,Christians,pickareligion,bombings,terrorism,badnewsandmorebadnews...
Seriously can't stand it any more. I think I'm going through some kind of delayed stress syndrome or something.
If I could figure out other things to occupy my time, I'd keep my tv OFF.

I'm waiting for the next installment of A Song of Ice and Fire. Martin takes around five years between books so a new book is due about now. He writes in a way, where it may be fantasy or it may be ancient people describing things that sound like fantasy. If you're into the
War Of The Roses or medieval Europe, this series might be up your alley.

Too many "serial" books for me... Too much of a commitment.
George Martin though... with a name like that, must be FAB!

Good luck finding a stand-alone fantasy book that doesn't leave you wanting more....

George R R Martin is brilliant. Read the first book in the series and you'll want to read the rest. Anything written by Robin Hobb is good too.
