Remember, during this tragedy Haiti, you can always help the one who need it the most...the dogs,, by sending any dog food, dog toys or just a freakin bone left over from your KFC you had for lunch. Be a pal, help a dog. After all, without them, we wouldnt have "doggy style".....

Good Idea, B. :lol:

Veterinary relief efforts expected following Haiti earthquake

Jan. 14 - The devastating earthquake that occurred in Haiti on Tuesday, Jan. 12, is tragic. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is closely monitoring the early response in Haiti to determine if and how we and others involved in animal welfare and health may assist in the Haiti response and recovery efforts.

As always with disasters like this, the humanitarian rescue efforts will be the focus in Haiti for the first week or so. However, veterinarians are on standby to assist with the tragedy.

Once the immediate human needs have been met, the AVMA is ready to address the animal issues in any way we can.

For ongoing updates, please follow the AVMA and the AVMA Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams (VMAT) on Twitter:

@AVMAVMAT: AVMA VMAT's twitter feed
@AVMAvets: AVMA's general Twitter feed

The AVMA disaster response efforts led by the AVMA Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams (VMAT) are funded through the generous support of the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. Your donation to the AVMF will help the Foundation make emergency care available to all animals in times of crisis,

Well, I'm off work in about 5 minutes and my computer is still being worked on. So I'll have to continue this banter Monday morning. Everyone (including the animal haters) have a great weekend.

Our dog has always eaten them with no problem. I've heard the same thing you just said though, and argued it with my wife, and she said it depends on how thoroughly a dog chews its food before it swallows it. If you have a dog that just gulps their food down with little sign of chewing, then I'd definitely not give them chicken bones, as they splinter and break with jagged edges.

my dog when i was growing up used to knock over the trash, when no one was around, digging for chicken bones. we were always afraid he was going to choke on one, and we'd have to put the trash can up on the counter if we left him alone. this turned out to be the same dog that got into a bag of easter candy and ate a SOLID peanut butter chocolate egg, one of those big ones that's the size of a small nerf football, and never got sick from all that chocolate, so maybe the chicken bones weren't the biggest worry :lol:
