How did Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson even make the top 20, let alone the top 100? And Gene Simmons over Paul? No Steve Perry? This list has a slight flaw...

Nobody in the comments even questioned that Steve Perry wasn't on that list? That in itself proves corruption! The world is all fucked up!

Robert Plant at #20- needs to be higher

Zombie and Manson don't belong on here

Springsteen needs to be a bit higher

Glad that I didn't see Cobain on here

I agree. I also don't understand why Elvis is on the list. Can you really call someone a Frontman when there are no ..... er.... uh, Backmen? (What's the word I'm looking for?) How can a solo artist be considered a Frontman? When I think "Frontman," I think of someone who fronts a band. Manson's a no talent freak. He needs to come off the list altogether. I love The Cure so it's good to see Robert Smith's name mentioned but I don't believe he belongs on the list..... not in the top 20 at least!

Everytime I see these lists, I say WHO SAYS. It is kind of like the R&R HOF and the guy who selects and controls it in Cleveland. Add the Grammy to the list ! The only thing that means anything is CD sales so artists and bands can tour, which is more $$$.

CD sales don't mean everything. Really.

If they did, Britney Spears is just as credible as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Bruce Springsteen.

Well, I gotta stress that the homo Jann Wenner and his New York liberal cronies control the R&R HoF, not anyone in Cleveland.

I don't agree with the fact that Steve was a "Great" front man. He had an awesome voice both live and in the studio, and he wasn't BAD on stage. I just don't think he really worked the stage as well as many other front-men out there do. Just saying.
The artist formerly known as Jim. :-)

I'd say Burton's frontman skills are pretty underrated. He's a more classic style "man's man" frontman, eschewing the oft-androgynous strutting and dancing of more flamboyant frontmen for simply great presence, great facial expressions, his "real life" (ie not just a lame "HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU DOIN" kinda stuff) conversational rapport with the fans in the audience at shows, and good chemistry with his bandmates.

OK Matt, but the HOF museum is in Cleveland, right? Hearing the words New York explains it all.

I do... I really feel bad for him to be honest. I can tell he's really lonely and has some issues (especially the dad stuff)... But don't get me wrong, I love reading about his current playlists, his record collection, his memories of writing songs (especially when he posts unreleased tracks on there), and what not. But the more serious posts are really pretty sad sometimes... it's like his incredible gift and love for music/songwriting really trumped all his other desires throughout his life and now that he's gotten older it haunts him a bit.

Ronnie James Dio is not even on that list, therefore its credibility is ZERO.

Plant is hugely (?) overrated. He had like 3-4 vocally good years with LZ, and that's about it.

The world's best frontman got to Bruce Springsteen - or Mr. Kittens from 1980-83 :)

I won't say you're wrong about the Boss, as my love for him is well documented in these pages, BUT- when I think of the prototypical frontman, I think of a singer as part of a band/unit. I guess bands like the E streeters and the Heartbreakers fall in that middle ground somewhere. Their singers aren't JUST singers, they are in essence the show.
Anyhoo...Plant may have only had a few years in top form, but they were mighty great years. And to me, he and Daltry set the standard of what a front man should be.
And btw- where the hell is Bon Scott on that list???

Looks like Elvis is fronting a band here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBmAPYkPeYU

So, would it have been any different if he was known as the Elvis Presley band and was the singer? Elvis is placed on that list exactly where he should be. The greatest performer to ever walk the earth.

Nobody outside of the Journey world thought Perry was any sort of "frontman." Singer? Yes ... the best ever. He's the reason so many people made fun of Journey. He was dorky, faggy and feminine.
