GREAT LIST... looking forward to the show!! and if they perfom like they did for the 9/11 benefit... the only group to really give 150% that concert... this will be one of the top 5 halftime shows...

Now that the regular-season games are over, football fans finally know which two teams will be squaring off for the championship on February 7. The New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, however, aren't the only folks getting ready for the Super Bowl.

The Who revealed plans for their Super Bowl set list on Monday (January 25), stitching together a tapestry of classic hits that will fuel a high-profile halftime show from the legendary rockers.

Speaking with Billboard.com, Pete Townshend explained that the band's halftime show will feature a "compact medley" of their greatest hits, most of which debuted five decades ago.

"We're kinda doing a mash-up of stuff," he said. "A bit of 'Baba O'Riley,' a bit of 'Pinball Wizard,' a bit of the close of 'Tommy,' a bit of 'Who Are You,' and a bit of 'Won't Get Fooled Again.' "

The band will segue from one hard-rocking song into another, attempting to appeal to their older base while also keeping younger folks entertained with the high-energy, hooks-only song sampling. "It works — it's quite a saga," Tonwshend told the music site. "A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it — we've always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot."

Yawn.

I saw some random headline either last night or this morning that said The Who had announced their setlist and as big of a fan as I am, I didn't even care to click because I knew what the setlist would be. I could have posted this before they even announced it.

Just like Journey... same old same old because they HAVE to. I now call it the "CSI Medley".

Just ones I'd like to see these geezers get up there on TV and bust out some of the deeper cuts from Quad or Tommy... "5:15" or "Amazing Journey" ... or something like "Dreaming from the Waist" or jesus, get up there for 10 minutes and haul out "A Quick One".

No more g.d. "Who Are You" already. Humbug.

lol, I don't think SB halftime would be the most appropriate venue for such experimentation, but I share the sentiment. The Who does change it up pretty well at their actual live shows, always a few different ones from the shows I've got on DVD

Bruce pulled out an oldie and even played a brand new one and to many it was the best SB halftime show ever. However, unlike the Who, he didn't ever announce a set list. In fact there was gambling based on what 4 songs would be played. I think you actually guaranteed everyone that Born in the USA would be played. I believe you lost a bet to me as a matter of fact.

I agree with you though that this predicted set is a yawn and chances are this will all be canned vocals anyway.

LOL... no of course not. People want what they know.... and they "know" the CSI Medley. But what *I* want, that's another matter. it just kills me, there is so much GREAT material in their catalog and so many people only know their version of the dirty dozen.... Who Are You, Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Riley, I Can See For Miles, etc. Yawn.
